Long Covid and Gut problems

This episode is on gut problems and Long Covid. In this first part, I talk about the symptoms, diagnosis, investigations and causes of Long Covid gastrointestinal or gut problems. In the second part, I will talk about the treatments, management and outcomes.
I am Dr Tim Robinson, formerly a GP for 30 years, retired as planned at the start of the Covid pandemic. Since then I have become involved in the world of Long Covid. Currently I am GP clinical lead for Long Covid NHS in South West England, as well as GP lead for three NHS Long Covid Services - Dorset, Bristol and South Devon. I am also Clinical Lead for Hope for the Community CIC. I have research involvement as co-investigator in a study on breathlessness in Long Covid, University of Bristol.

Amazing, you described exactly what happened to me, two years ago. Still battling with fatigue, lightheadedness and PEM. My intestine had a mind of his own!

36 hours after my second Pfizer shot I experienced an intense pain in my colon that lasted for a couple of hours. Subsequently, I have been sensitive to tiny amounts of dairy, causing loose stool the following morning. I avoid dairy as much as I can now, with occasional mistakes. If I avoid dairy I the problem goes away…

I was vaccinated against COVID-19 on 2/19/21 and again on 3/12/21. On 7/23/21, I fell ill with the virus and on 1/14/22 I fell ill a second time. On both occasions my symptoms were mild; similar to a common cold. I don't know whether to blame the vaccine or the actual illness, however, after the second time I fell ill, I've been living with symptoms associated with long-COVID: i.e.; fatigue, brain fog, insomnia, and occasional constipation. Since I am a 78 years old man, I must accept my feeling of weakness can be attributed to my old age. However, the symptoms came all of a sudden after my last onset with COVID and I have been an active and healthy person most of my life. While researching all public information on the subject, I learned of no quick fix. I did, however, read of someone claiming the benefits of vitamin C in treating the illness. Since there was nothing to lose, two weeks ago I started taking 1,000 mg of vitamin C in the morning and afternoon. At this time, I am feeling better. I don't know what to make of it and cannot yet attribute it to the vitamin C or on the time it took for my body to heal.

C19 vaccines are causing health issues please do not continue to take the shots. Look up Dr. John Campbell on KZbin and google Dr. Ryan Cole, Dr. Robert Malone, Frontline Doctor's also. I'm 34 I was an athlete a boxer at that trained over 10 yrs...was not vaxxed I have everything you describe...brain fog insomnia...fatigue...burning pain .. shortness of breath Ben like this since COVID started...I never recovered...do u take vitamin c threw iv?

Dear Doctor, you described my symptoms during the first 4 minutes, I took the jab (only one) - after 10 days I lost my ability to digest peas, cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage plants. I thought I can live with this and yes it worked out until... I actually got the covid virus 8 months later - after 10 days of getting sick, I lost my ability digest lactose free milk products, like all of them... so, I had to start use products that are totally milk free...(made of oats - replacements) THEN I have noticed smt. a bit strange that sort of helps... when I drink beer 4.5% or stronger like 2 litres... My bowel is normal the next day and usually the following day. Now part 2, and thank you !!!

I received my first COVID vaccination in February 21 within a 2 months I began to develop chronic diarrhoea this lasted for 6 months . In February 22 I received a diagnosis of Lymphocytic colitis and was prescribed steroids. I believe that I have a vaccine related illness . Do you now consider that the use of vitamin D 3 should have been given prior to vaccination especially to those patients in the first cohort at risk to boost their immune systems. I was at that time considered at risk due to other health conditions, ie...vascular disease pernicious anaemia, diverticulosis and depression all medicated for..

I got diverticulitis after LC. Spent 3 days hospitalized getting IVs. The 1st 6 weeks after getting LC was horrible, worst gas ever.

@@SolidGeddoe I tried different brands of probiotics but am unsure if they helped. When the issue resolved it seemed like it happened overnight. One day I had horrific gas, next day normal... so strange.

I saw recently a video done by a woman who suffered of long covid for many years, starting after her covid infection in 2020, long before the vaccine came. I spoke also to an old schoolfrend you seemed also to have long covid kind exhausting symptoms after infection, didin’t take the vax. I believe both exists and I’m affraid vaccine symptoms are covered by stating they are long covid, as most people did have the infection anyway, even if vaccinated.

I never got the vaccine . 26 months and can barely function at my house only getting 1000 steps a day . Played soccer and lived a very active life . Im only 31

@@Kilodank1 same here I try to go do things but end up having to sit down right away not only that but the brain fog is crazy asf it makes me feel like as if I'm high off something I wouldn't wish this on anyone ..life hasn't Ben the same an I hope they find a cure

Post viral complications are not specific to the covid flu. People have been having these for years Long covid is a misnomer.
