We me and Mrs C had a couple days off work so headed off to the seaside, Northumberland and set about getting the sunset at St Mary's Lighthouse, shot a millions times but i never had this shot before...

Well i have just turned on the PC to have a chat with any of my loyal subscribers, that may like to watch and chat on this Premier. I am always amazed that like last week i have a thumbs down. The video has not gone out as yet when i am writing this and i just dont understand what the thumbs down is for yet?? Please please anyone giving me a thumbs down let me know why, i really dont mind getting the odd one as know one can get it right every time, but please do explain why and not just click and run, where does that get us. I cant learn from not knowing and you will never find out if i can do better...haha

Some great shots! I lived in Whitley Bay as a student for 3 years back in the 70s. Sundays was always spent walking to the lighthouse. Great for bird photography too.

You got some great light and the rainbow over the lighthouse was really special. I was wondering about the polarizer. I understand it helps to make the colors pop but I would have expected that it would have minimized the reflections and I'm surprised it didn't affect the rainbow. I am guessing maybe you had it turned a little off maximum effect? I don't usually use a polarizer if I want reflections but I may give it a try since it didn't seem to cut your reflections.

Its a balancing act, between the glare and the reflections, you can get the colours to pop but like you say can mess up a nice reflection as well

Hi Paul, I stand guilty as charged I'm one of these folk (subscriber) who watches all your vlogs and never gets round to commenting well I'm about to put that right by saying what a cracking vlog it brings back childhood memories as a day out to the seaside was whitley bay. Now at the ripe old age of 53 and a resident of Cornwall, I do miss the old place sand castles all day and a bag of chips on the way home. I have to say I really like all of the images in this vlog as i love a moody long exposure image. I must head out to St Micheal's mount Penzance bay and have a go at the causeway there. I rercently coined a new phrase to another vlogger and good friend of mine Mr Chris Sale the phrase was "Book ticker" as in my book all your images this time round are the afore mentioned "Book tickers" in other words excellent images.
