Long Gill river bed brought back to life

This is the moment I captured an instant river flowing through Kingsdale in the Yorkshire Dales after a day which saw a months worth of rain fall in certain parts of the area:
My mesmerising & remarkable footage shows a bone dry Yorkshire Dales dry pebble bed suddenly turn into a stream in a matter of minutes and progress to a fast flowing river within the hour.
We spent an hour waiting for the river bed to finally fill up and captured the moment on camera watching in disbelief at the speed the water picked up momentum.
The water comes off all of the hills following little streams down into the valley of Kingsdale.
The river Long Gill collects the rain water and transports it down to the River Twiss.
My Video taken on 03.10.2020 initially shows the water slowly creeping along the stones in the distance.
The water is then shown heading towards a small footbridge before passing underneath it and carrying on its journey.
The dry pebble bed then becomes completely covered with water at the hands of mother nature.
An awe inspiring moment I will never forget ❤️

Most times when I see videos of water filling up a watershed like this, the leading edge is always full of debris.

Small watershed with free draining soil. During the dry spells, the stream disappears below the gravel and rock, flowing much slower. This recharges aquifers

Interesting how much water must flow, and is required, just to fill the voids in the bed of cobbles. That's what also feeds low flows in the drought that exposed the streambed to begin with.
