I remember going to SeaWorld when I was a child. All i felt for them was sadness. Even at the age of 9 I knew it was wrong. They've been my most favorite animal since then. Years later Keiko is brought here to the aquarium in Newport Oregon. My son's class had a field trip there. I went along. Almost instantly Keiko honed right in on me and the announcer even said that Keiko had a tendency to pick out lil blonde people. He looked right into my eyes, into my soul. I got tears in my eyes. Then when i heard they were taking him to (join his of) I balled like a baby for him! He loved people and over the coarse of them trying to give reunite him with his pod, on top of not being acclimated to the temp change of the water, but also without his people spending less time with him not only wore down his immune system, but affected his emotional state. Not only was his sick he was beyond being lonely. I'll NEVER EVER GO TO WATCH ANY MARINE SHOW AFTER FEELING WHAT I DID WHEN KEIKO LOOKED AT ME FOR SO LONG. When he died part of me with the beautiful animal! I HATE SEAWORLD. I'll never go there nor will my children or my grandchildren! Not ever! 1😭😭💔💔

I feel the same way 💯 percent. It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. Beyond horrible, the way certain human beings are so selfish and cruel. People who attend these parks are insensitive, ignorant, barbarians, there is no excuse or reason for these parks. So much more can be learned by observing them in there natural habitats. I think we need to have an Orca week, just like shark week. To help educate and bring social awareness of the plight of these endangered mammals. The raping, and pillaging of the Southern Resident Orca pods had serious repercussions. Now those particular orca pods are critically endangered. It’s so upsetting, heartbreaking.

The wild sanctuaries are a brilliant idea. Allowing injured whales to come in and be treated and then sent on their way is probably the only time humans should interact with them

Keiko did survive for 5 years. He was monitored from beginning till the end. He found comfort with humans on a dock then swam away to die. He did not just perish. They found him and autopsy revealed he died of pneumonia, something that often kills orcas in captivity .

I went to sea world only once when i was young. Since watching Black Fish it really opened my eyes. I have not and will never buy a ticket for Sea World. I also refuse to go to any zoo which also keeps wild animals in such small cages. @@ElieGroff and @ yvonnemurray4537, Would you rather see them suffer what happened to Luna, who lost his Mother and pod on the west coast of Vancouver Island BC? He was two when he found himself alone, and he desperately sought the company of the local people. They asked the government and fisheries and wildlife scientists what to do. They were told “tough love” do not look at him, talk to him, play with him or feed him. Teams arrived to monitor these rules…and ended up interacting with him to keep others from doing so. The Indigenous Peoples put themselves and their traditional canoes between Luna, and a secretive plan to remove him to a “holding facility”. They succeeded in him being able to stay the only home he knew…but no interaction. A couple skirted the line, keeping him out of trouble until one had to leave for a few days. During those few days, Luna went to a logging area to amuse himself, and was killed by the propellers of a logging boat…possibly on purpose. That little Orca knew what he needed, and the government let him down, along with the people who trusted them to do the right thing…he was 5 years old when he died. Think carefully when you discount the Orca’s own plans for himself, because it doesn’t appear perfect to your eyes. Safe, in a loving and supportive community, while free to live in the ocean to which he was born is better than dead by the hands of a tugboat owner who saw only a disturbance to his daily routine . Watch “A Killer Whale Called Luna”, and “Saving Luna” before you are so certain you are correct.🖤🇨🇦

For whales that have been born in captivity or lived most of their lives as such, release back into the wild would be a death sentence. They lack the know how to hunt and don’t have their pod to protect them, along with providing for their social needs. Retiring them to a seaside sanctuary would allow them to experience some of what they lost. Ocean water, the tides, kelp and fish, etc, along with the ability to swim in straight lines and have much deeper water to explore. They would of course continue to rely on human care, as that’s all they’ve known. But their life would have the enrichment that a tiny, empty concrete tank full of chemically treated water could ever provide them.

You will always get people that think an orca is like a pet and you can train it to sit on your lap while you Stroke it while watching TV when in fact it’s a wild animal and is very dangerous and is capable of killing a human being, Animals like orcas bears Lions and wolfs they are not like snakes where you can feed a snake then they will curl up for the next month or two in like a hibernation state while they digest their food then they just go out and hunt again And do the same thing over and over again they do not need simulating like lions bears etc these animals need to socialise and play they shouldn’t be locked away in a cage or in a Fishtank the size of a bath they should be hunting the plains of Africa or swimming in the oceans it’s a known fact that if you lock a human away in a prison cell for many years they will eventually go Insane So what do you think it does to these animals? Animals that are kept in these places remind me of the old circuses what use to exploit people with disabilities like midgets and people like the elephant man It’s all about money at the end of the day and animals have to suffer for peoples pleasure. I see Ingrid Fischer the New Zealand marine biologist in this video I think she’s absolutely great she has saved so many orcas over the years that have been washed up on the beaches you should check out some of her videos she is so passionate about these animals. People ask how intelligent are orcas well the way I look at it is what humans don’t know about living on land ain’t worth knowing basically we know everything ha ha and what orcas don’t know about swimming and hunting in all the oceans of are planet are not worth knowing. And please Don’t buy a ticket

Yet in the wild, these animals have the intelligents to not only not attack humans, but in some cases protect them from Sharks and other possible threats. Why can't we Lobby for a bill to be put into Law to protect these animals. The locals asked for instructions to do the best for Luna, and were given poor advice that resulted in his death at 5 years old. Once again, nobody with authority listened to what the orphaned Orca wanted. He died because the rules required he be let down once again, left an orphan looking for a place in his birth waters, and having gone looking elsewhere when denied his trusted friends, he was killed by the propellers of a logging tug boat (very possibly on purpose).🖤🇨🇦

I assume that if the orcas that are in captivity did not perform they would be so bored, so lonely, and they don’t even have to use their brains to hunt in captivity, if they did not train/perform they would diminish in half the time or 15yrs. Instead of 30yrs. When they are in the wild they live 60 to 80 yrs., all I mean is that if they half to remain in captivity they should at least have the love of a trainer and brain exercise. For the ones in captivity for so long they’ll never be able to have a orca family. I think that they just shouldn’t be taken anymore. But you also need to make enough money to be able to care for the remaining orcas as well, not like these companies couldn’t but they should.

Felt the same for the bonobos in SDzoo. Animals need purpose; we are genetically programmed at different levels, and a purposeful existence is necessary for a satisfactory life. Rather than wrangle with the definition of person, I would instead say that animals have legal rights dictated perhaps by their habitat requirements and social needs. As an aside let me mention with discussions of goals for a global reset, we need to take control and implement them in a democratic non autocratic manner - devil in the details

It worked so well for the orca from Free Willy. The poor thing died of starvation, he kept approaching humans wanting to be fed. He never learned to eat on his own
@sarahb8225
@sarahb8225 Жыл бұрын
That's not true, his rehabilitation process was about 5 years where he learned to hunt for himself no one was feeding him towards his end part of his rehabilitation in Oregon and no one was feeding him in his sea pen and when he was in the wild he was feeding himself in that year, it is unfortunate he died of pneumonia but at least he was in a better environment then a non stimulating tank, things would of been better for him if they were able to locate his family which is something researchers are able to do now

Even if this claim was true, it's the result of his captivity. Which shouldn't have happened in the first place.

I wish these people had this compassion and love for human beings I always find it strange that very same people who have this love for animals are some of the most racist wicked people on the planet and out the other side of their mouth they are screaming have compassion have love have empathy for animals but will discriminate hate practice racism in their everyday day lives! Make it make sense! Take this same love and compassion for the people that have been and still are being treated the worst in todays world!

They make a big deal about the orcas being very social animals creating social groups. In the wild they are mostly matriarchal family groups of females with young males and occasionally an itinerant adult males. They say they like the tactile feeling of touching and being close. But a glaring issue they didn’t address is that these orcas are born in captivity to mothers. are they separating them from their mothers which they had a special bond and language? perhaps they bonded podlike with the orcas in their tanks. A thought question is with a hypothesis presented about orcas being bored in the wild that’s why they are attacking boats , why are the orca shows where they are learning different pattern movements and difficult maneuvers so bad for them? it seems to be stimulating for them intellectually and they seem to want you to be stimulated. Freedom is a anthropocentric concept we can of course press on other species but we can see with pollution and other reasons (like diminishing food supplies ) the wild orcas are not living as long of lives as in the past. Can it not be that orcas may have enjoyed the captivity having abundant food other orcas around, having stimulation of performances and learning having health care and getting to breed and interacting with another sentient being ? Are we so caught up in our own self centered intellect to presume what other beings want enjoy and conceptualize well being It’s like nursing a pigeon back to health and saying fly be free and a hawk grabs it out of the air and feeds it to its hawklets I know the analogy is not best they are an apex predator but still we try to put all the concepts of man onto other beings presuming we know what’s best I am not for capturing wild animals for zoos unless it is to help wounded animals or to help propagate a species I do believe orcas and whales have a complex brain with sentience maybe someday we can communicate with them wherein they can tell us who they are with all there likes and dislikes but right now we are simply observing snd impressing our humanity on them

Time to time when I watch how humans exploit nature, as a muslim i just wonder what those kinds of people say and how they will be accountable before Allah as the owners of all creatures? We are all will be questions for what have we done during our time living in these world. Gila aja, aku ga kebayang keserakahan manusia nge eksplotasi hewan-hewan itu, kok ga takut ke Sang Pencipta? Aaah greed greed greed making us human blinded, without realising what we've done could as well impact our lives in the future.
