What works well for asymmetric hair styles is combing your hair to the opposite of where you want them, e.g. if you've combed them to the right then after taking off the helmet you comb them to the left and they'll maintain tons of volume because they got compressed to the right and will try to lift to that side. It requires practice, though, because one false move and half your hair doesn't match the direction of the other half... in a bad way.

Or.... You get a modular helmet. They are excellent for preserving your hair. I alway open the helmet and put it on in a sliding motion to the back. This way, all my hair is retained to the back, and will come out looking sharp, even with product in my hair. It will also not go in my eyes while riding. It's similar to a Jet helmet when putting on, an then you fold down the chin bar. Done. Only downside, you have less good looking options and they can be a bit heavier.
