Long Hair vs. Motorcycle Touring

Don't quite know why I'm watching this but have learnt a lot about long hair and motorbikes! I cut mine short, but you notice the cold on your neck after!

My daughter and her friends all ride. I have actually had this convo with them. They all seem to prefer goggles with their helmets, and I discovered that they do this so they can make a long single braid and then tuck the braid up into the goggle strap. Love how women riders shape convos about riding.

Id advise them against this, if they rode past a bush and it caught the hair, it would pull them back

@@SaffySprocket If I get a Wig and stuff a padded Bra .. can I Identify as a Woman and Join an all girls ride? I like Women, I think they are fascinating creatures. I dresses as a Hooker one time on Halloween and actually had guys come up from behind me and make passes at me. "Maybe they were really drunk?" I have had Gay Men after me they are so persistent. It made me very uncomfortable. Because of how Pushy Gay Men are, I made up my mind that I never wanted to be pushy with woman and make them feel uncomfortable. Then again many Woman like a Man to be very aggressive and take control of the situation. I suppose that is when you already know each other well. It's better to have verbal communications first.

Cold water is only awful the first 30 seconds 😂 once you acclimatise you're good to go

I have long hair, it is almost by my pants belt line. I always brush it as neatly as I can then tie it with 6 or 7 simple black elastic hair ties spaced a hand width apart. On sort trips, my hair usually sits outside my jacket, but on longer trips, it is always inside the jacket. I take a small travel sized shampoo and conditioner with on long trips and try wassh my hair every night.

Hahaha. Yes, the slaps are quite bad sometimes. Especially when I forget my hair is outside the jacket and the Hayabusa decides it is silly speed time.

Honestly, I see such an improvement in my skin when I wash in rivers 😂 I get really horrific eczema from hit water

@@SaffySprocket Hit water? Hard Water with minerals in it? I have well water and a Water softener it makes the water feel really slippery on your skin but you only need to use half as much soap. In the Summer I bath in my pond and swim a couple of laps for exercise.

Although I am a man I have pretty long hair. Down to the middle of my back. Have had long hair on and off since the 70's and now that I am almost in my 70's I'm just happy I have hair. 😂😂The way I do mine is I put a hair tie at the top and then another on about 25% down, another one 25% percent further down and then finally one at the bottom. And then slap on my helmet. Works well from getting my hair tied in knots' If you have ever had that happen you know the pain that is trying to brush them out. Keep up the great work young lady.

I use to do that but I found that each individual hair tie was adding friction causing it to snap at that particular length. I started getting layers where the hair ties were instead of one consistent length

@@SaffySprocket A UK Rider Bunny King Hogs Invented a scarf like thing that she sells. She shows how to use it in a Video. Tent Camping in the USA on My Uncles Property in Northern MI. There was a Pitcher pump and an outhouse. We got on our Motorcycles and rode about a mile down the old Rail Road Bed on a River. It's all Sandy no rocks like where you were. The Water is shin deep and very cold even in July. With a swim suit on you can lay in the river and get all wet. You can put in the shampoo then bend over and just dunk your head in the River. The water is so cold I got an ice cream headache rinsing my hair. I noticed that many Van Dwellers in the USA Get a Planet Fitness Gym Membership for $25.00 per month. Most of them are even open 24 hours per day. When I am travelling with a Motorcycle tent and cook stove. I pull out some app or Google Maps and Look for Public Boat Landings. There you have Public access to the Lake and a Parking Lot. good advice ... always had long hair.....Henna wax conditioner is the best i have found, organic , and brilliant for fine hair like you and I have. The rubber on the very bottom of a helmet wrecks hair, so wear it up and under the lid. Gl

I remember having to deal with my surfie hair on ride trips. Not fun at all. I always found river water quite hard, on my hair as well. I did enjoy having naturally beautiful hair, though. But only rode for a day with my hair down once ;) I'm old now and like most of my counterparts, live a lot more simply with short hair :D The only downside of this is the dreaded 'helmet hair' LOL.

My wife had waist length blonde hair when she first started riding her own bikes. After like yourself trying to get the evil knots out she did loose pony tail at neck then loose quick braids finished with hair tie at end inside her jacket. Decades latter she still has long hair but only halfway down her back. Women with long hair rule.

Yes! Whenever I see a girl on a bike and her hair is free-flowing, I just think oh my god that's gonna hurt later 😂 so many knots. People don't realise that having your hair down on a bike, it looks great at the time but by god, it is not great when you're hairbrush is stuck in it and your crying in the shower with half a bottle of conditioner 😂😂😂😂

Your hair care seems to be working out well, as your hair usually looks really good. You do need some moisturiser for the dry skin on your face though. I'd recommend Child's Farm, as it works great for me and has all natural ingredients. 😉

Yes! The wind is the worst thing for your hair for so many different reasons! The wind knots it out. The constant passing wind also dries it out and makes it more brittle. This creates hair that's easy to snap. Exposure to the sun also calls bleaching :) and it's also a risk getting it caught in bushes on the trails! It's best to be safe and just keep it tied back!

I personally don't use braids because if your braid falls out of your jumper or jacket when riding, it slaps against your spine and it started to give me bruises! Braids are also a bit heavier! I prefer sock buns because if I ride through twigs and brushes and the sock snags on something, the sock will be pulled out rather than my hair or braid potentially getting caught on something and pulling me back

Yes :-) I only use eco- friendly products when travelling on the road. You want to look for products that don't contain chemicals like sulphates, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. :) At home I use regular shampoo and conditioner with all the chemicals 😭😂

Hi saffy, I don't have that problem as I have short hair, I have said before you have lovely hair and I think it really suits you, you are brave washing your hair in 7 degrees, But If you send me £1,000 I would do the same 😅, I hope the sock you use on your hair you haven't been wearing for a week 😅, good thinking with the sock though, not sure many people would think of doing that, I guess you just get the ends of your hair trimmed occasionally. I tried this and it didn't work for me, it wasn't long enough for my hair and the fabric added so much additional weight and it had the effect of constantly pulling my hair down. It also left a gap of my hair exposed with additional movement that it caused my hair to rub against the neck of my helmet increasing the breakage

@@SaffySprocket Oh my in her Presentation videos, it looks like the perfect Invention for holding your hair out of the wind. Did you know that Women have twice as many hair follicles as Men have, and Red Heads have more Hair Follicles than others have. One of the coolest things I have seen is a hole in the back of a Helmet to let a braided pony tell hang freely, but you say the whipping motion breaks the hair strands which makes sense to me. Men have it so much easier than Women, No makeup to put on and when my hair gets long enough to bother me, I get a Buzz cut above my ears. I hate hair in my eyes, I just cut my bangs with a pair of Scissors the other day when they kept falling in my eyes while I was trying to run a chain saw.

I find a rough sponge and cold river water is better than soap and the hands. I never use smelly sprays and I prefer women without makeup and perfume 🤎

Honestly, river water is so much better! Showers make my skin react badly! I never see to get the same thing with river water
