Something that completely changed the game for my hair is a silk turban from Slip. It's sooooo expensive, but it has been a life changing addition to my night time hair routine. I used to sleep in satin bonnets and didn't think silk was really worth it. And if satin is all you can get, definitely get it. It's better to have a satin one than nothing at all. It will still help reduce friction, breakage, and frizz. But since I've gotten the silk one, I will never go back. I sleep in it every night and I have seen dramatic benefits from it. My hair is softer, smoother, and stronger, with almost no frizz. I can't believe one product made such a huge difference, but it truly has! I also got some silk scrunchies from them and I especially love the skinny scrunchies. Super gentle, but they're a lot less bulky than regular scrunchies.

@x-starlight-x3 жыл бұрын
I'm not at that stage of life yet, so I can't give any great tips for you, but I definitely suffer from night sweats due to medication I take, and I've found tying my hair in a loose ponytail with a silk/satin scrunchy and then loosely plaiting the end helps keep the hair in place, thats if you have a bit longer hair or even just loosely tying it up. A satin hair band helps damage the hair less and leave less marks. Also there are cooling pads you can insert into your pillows that can help cool you down. I'm not sure where you live but they are available in the Uk so should definitely be available in the US. I'm pretty sure they even do pillows with in built in cooling gel. So maybe that's something to look into. Good luck

For those tiny clear elastics, you can use lemon essential oil so break them and then you can gently remove. They also have this little hook tool that you can cut them with. I use both methods when I put them in my daughter's hair and I'm able to remove them with no hair breakage.

I don't really get why braids encourage breakage? POC use braids as a protective style all of the time. As long as it's not super tight it's fine. It protects your ends and is a low manipulation style as once it's done you can keep it in for a few days & don't have to manipulate it again.
@anikamartens93813 жыл бұрын
I know with my hair no matter how loose or tight the braid is it will come undone throughout the day and my hair ends up super snarled because it's so fine it slips out. This could be what she's talking about.

@@AngelPrimsepski it depends on the kind of bands you use. If they're true rubber bands, then they won't break. But if they're the flat kind of plastic-ish ones, then the oil will make them break. That's been my experience at least. For the flat ones I just use an eyebrow razor and cut them out.

Extremely fine hair nets have been a game changer for me. I can use all the loose styles without them falling down because the hair net keeps everything together without requiring tight bindings. I often use a hosiery elastic as you mentioned to make a very loose ponytail and then carefully pull the hair into a hairnet making sure to keep all of the strands smooth (no tangles). Once my pony is in the net I can gently loop it up over the hosiery elastic and hold it in place with a gentle clip, open pins, or even a hair chopstick (traditional hanfu style ornaments are my favorite). This works wonders. My hair has never been so happy. When all the strands are carefully protected in the invisible net they don’t suffer from tangling or activity based friction and my hair slides right out super shiny and silky smooth. Sometimes I even use a silk jumbo hair tie then carefully wrap my hair around it before covering with a hairnet to create silky waves. Those invisible hairnets are underrated! I can now create the most elegant styles without causing any kinks, stress, or binding on the strands or roots. Total blessing because I can’t stand the hair sitting on my neck, as you mentioned. 😅

What is your recommendation for when your work is a workout. I don’t have a sit down desk job. I work at a Hospital. I absolutely cannot have loose hair hanging down because I can’t stand how it feels to have loose hair tickling me in my face and on my neck when I am moving around a lot bending stretching lifting reaching and constantly walking. I also cannot have long hair laying loose that people could grab or yank. I also cannot have any hair dangling out that could possibly get dipped/dragged in other peoples body fluids. It also needs to fit under PPE and not be tangled in masks and face shields when they are regularly changed. Stabby hurty pins and clips are not an option for me on 12 hour shifts. Suggestions?

If your hair is in a very low pony or any other style where most of your hair is going to be swinging back and forth against your shirt it causes that same friction damage that you would get from sleeping on a pillow. I have a lot of hair so it works, and it won't mess up my curl pattern. It I want it up, I favor a mid ponytail secured with an Invisibobble. I find those don't cause frizz and minimize the stretched out curls that occur with a ponytail. For a messy bun, I gather my hair together and loop a scrunchie around. Curly hair is messy, so there's no need to manipulate it 😅

I wish I could do these loose styles, but my hair is so thin and fine that nothing stays put. Ever since I was a child, if I were to use a clip in my hair I could clamp it shut and it would still slide out. I'd have to tie an elastic underneath it and close the clip over it. Even now, I can tie a relatively small hairband in my hair three or four times around. Lately, I've been trying to sleep with my hair in a loose bun using silk scrunchies, yet without fail I wake up in the morning with the scrunchie lost somewhere in the bed and my hair loose again.

I have noticed though after years of the high bun on top of my head I have a lot of breakage at the back of my neck.

My golden hairstyle as a nurse is a lose braid i pin in different circles on my head. Nothing fancy like a french braid. And because it is long it always looks fancy. Sometimes it looks like a crown braid others just a spiral. I don't even need elastics if you pin the ends away right

Thanks so much for this video. Much needed. My hair is highlighted and damaged and I hate having my hair down while I sleep. I've been doing lose braids or ponies 😉 Happy Holiday's

So a loose pony tail is good for our hair instead of tight

RIP to dance bun days with 4+ hair ties. Gone but never forgotten by my scalp. 😅 Iykyk

What about wearing hair down if its not annoying you? I just prefer my hair loose over any hairstyle, but I'm afraid it will damage my lengths too much 😅

I tried invisibobble and it holds my hair nicely but it's such a pain to take out. So I appreciate the other suggestions.

I used to sleep with braids in my hair to prevent it from tangling, back when I still wore it long. My only regret is that I didn't cut it off sooner. God, long hair was Hell. I'll be sticking with my short crop for the rest of my life and enjoy never having to brush again XD

With the clear elastics they sell a tool that cuts them or if you just barley tap them with a curling iron they pop off

Last night, I tried wearing my hair in a loose twist that I loosely swirled into a low bun (kind of) and secured it with a scrunchie. The scrunchie stayed in my hair, but my hair fell out of the style. 🤔

Do you have tips for dancers who have to wear their hair up in a neat bun for many hours a week?

I am a hijabi and I have pretty long hair so I have to wear my hair in a bun for at least half of the day (when I am outside) and in summer I just can't tolerate a single hair touching my neck, so basically I really like puttinh my hair into a bun but I don't want it to affect my hairline or thin my hair. Any tips which could help?

The clear elastics are okay if you dab some hair cream on them before. Slip right off.

What do you think about head bands, barrettes, bobby pins? I just became a mom and need my hair out of my face and away from my kids hands but don’t want to damage my hair! Help 😅😊

I always used to wear my hair in a tight ponytail and at my hairline I've lost hair so I've tried to use a ponytail less often.

Great video but I think just inserting a picture for us of an item you know you are going to return would be better than buying just for the video and returning after (the elastic hair ties).

So how would you wear your hair for doing sports activities?

I love spiral pins but they often come in awful material and sadly the invisabobble one is just to short a spiral for long hair.

I know this is late but just found your video! How the heck to I have an updo that can stand Occasionally sweating and needing my hair up? My joy I need my hair up I wrap it in a low bun with metal bun twists. What do I do?!
