this song was dedicated to my strong and beautiful mum, who was a close friend of frank's, sadly she passed away 3 years ago from cancer. the two kids in the video (blonde girl sitting at the front and the boy who does the graffiti) are my little brother and myself, frank called us up and asked us to be a part of this video for this amazing song, he really is an amazing person.

5 years ago today, Lexi, who this song was written about lost her battle with breast cancer. She was an inspiration to many, I am so proud to be able to say she was my friend. She was an amazing woman, always smiling and painting the town pink. had all the time in the world for anyone who needed her. Thank you Frank for writing this song, I know she meant a lot to you too. I hope you still have the frog she gave you. Missing her always, xxxxx

Used to bawl my eyes out over this, but now, it seems more bittersweet to me. Instead of wallowing in the misfortune of the friend's death, Frank tips the scales towards celebrating her life, and I like that.

Man, I met Lex and Frank at a charity gig in Wimbledon. My band were playing and I didn't realise the gig was to raise money for her. She seemed so happy and energetic. I don't remember much about her bar her friendly and cheerful nature, and her pink hair, but this song absolutely slays me. Tears in my eyes every time. There was never a more beautiful tribute to anyone than this. Well done, Frank.

My childhood best friend died from a freak accident last December. He slipped on his apartment steps, hit his head just right, and was gone. It could happen to any of us. For reasons unknown, I got the call from the hospital, as his "friends" left them my number and ditched him. I knew my friend was dead before his parents ever did, and I'll never know who gave the doctors my number as "last of kin". But my friend, he opened my eyes to so many things throughout the 12+ years I knew him. He introduced me to The Clash, Sex Pistols, Joy Division, Black Flag, marijuana, all of the greats. I was unable to go to his funeral, despite my personal involvement, due to airfare, but his family wanted it to be a celebration of his life. They said, "please let no story go untold, we know our son was the life of the party and we want to hear it all". I still pour one out for you, bud, and I think I always will. But this song, this utter bittersweet celebration and wishes from the now-dead, really ring true. My friend would've said similar things as Lex; the only people who mourn the dead are the living, so just remember who they were to you and the impact they left, and have a drink or two or five in their honor. They wouldn't want us to be sad; they would want us to go on living while remembering the lessons they taught us while they were here in our lives. RIP BCR, 1998-2017.

This song makes me weep for my late sister… she died from battling diabetes. She became sick with it, lost her eyes sight… was in hospital many times, hysterectomy…. Kidney failure… when they told her she would need a leg amputation, she gave up and her health declined…. I stayed by her side until the very end. She was wild fire and had an infectious laugh. She would pull me by the hand and get me to live a little, to dance a little… I miss her everyday.

I recently lost the bestest friend in my life to suicide and I believe that the beginning relates to me but in a psychological kind of way. I managed to share Frank with him and we spent a lot of time talking about how he was able to comfort so many people like the greats we love so much. This song really hit me hard as I avoided music for a while because I knew I would feel quite down and not want to hear anything that related to me at all. Frank is getting me through the roughest experience I will ever have and I will always dance for my soulmate. I just felt like it needed to be known that Frank is like Springsteen and Zimmerman, he helps you live it up in the good times so he can help you through the tough times. We made a plan to see him live but I'll go for him while he rocks out in heaven. It would be wonderful to thank Frank in person for all the things he has done for me and how he gave me hope to carry on living

This song is a genuine work of art. I've probably listened to it over a thousand times on here. I don't think anyone has ever managed to so perfectly capture what it means to lose a loved one, and to place that sense of loss so perfectly into context. I plagiarized this song shamelessly when writing the eulogy for my grandmother, who was also one of my best and closest friends.

Lyrics: I was sipping on a Whiskey when I got the call My friend Lex was lying in the hospital She'd been pretty sick for about half a year But it seems like this time the end was drawing near So dropped my plans and jumped the next London train I found her laid up and in a lot of pain Her eyes met mine and then I understood That her weather forecast wasn't looking too good So I sat and spun her stories for a little while Tried to raise her mood and tried to raise a smile But she silenced all my rambling with a shake of her head Drew me close and listen this is what she said now You'll live to dance another day It's just now you'll have to dance for the two of us So stop looking so damn depressed And sing with all your heart that the Queen is dead Yeah she told me she was sick of all the hospital food And of doctors, distant relatives, draining her blood She said "I know I'm dying, but I'm not finished just yet I'm dying for a drink and for a cigarette" So we hatched a plan to book ourselves a cheap hotel In the centre of the City and to raise some Hell Lay waste to all the clubs and then when everyone else is long asleep We know we're good and done You'll live to dance another day It's just now you'll have to dance for the two of us So stop looking so damn depressed And sing with all your heart that the Queen is dead And South London's not the same anymore The Queen is dead, and the last of the greats has finally gone to bed Well I was working on some words when Sarah called me up She said that Lex had gone asleep and wasn't waking up And even though I knew that there was nothing to be done I felt bad for not being there and now, well, she was gone So I tried to think what Lex would want me to do At times like this when I was feeling blue So I gathered up some friends to spread the sad, sad news And we headed to the City for a drink or two And we sang We live to dance another day It's just now we have to dance for one more of us So stop looking so damn depressed And sing with all our hearts, long live the Queen

One of my favorite coworkers passed away unexpectedly yesterday morning. Music is how I cope, and I was listening to Let it Be by The Beatles because it’s got a nice message, but I feel like this song hits a lot closer to the situation. He’s been in and out of the hospital as long as I’ve known him from various auto immune diseases, and he’d been battling pneumonia for the last 3 months. I just love the lyric “Stop looking so damn depressed” because he was such a bubbly guy and was always making us laugh, even on the super busy and tough days. I know he wouldn’t want us to be upset. This one’s for you, Wendell. We’ll be dancing for one more of us from now on 💕

I like that its people who didn't know Spencer commenting here. Spencer has almost started sounding as a metaphor himself for the other people who have lost someone, when mine goes itll be goodbye to another Spencer, the unanimity of paying respects to him is the same as the individuality of everyone else whose song this will be, so in saying goodbye to Spencer Im saying the same to all of those who will go, and you are to me. I think its beautiful that we can bid farewell to them all together.
