Hi Jared. I also use the Papaya seeds as Papaya pepper. I wash them to get rid of the orange pulp, using tweezers too. Then I dry then thoroughly and use them like whole pepper in a second pepper mill for a decent spicy and fruity flavor. This way you can store them for long! Tom

My favorite avocado! I grew up eating these smeared on pan sobao (sweet bread) and salt, my grandmother´s tree produces some really enormous ones and one would feed 3 or 4 people. I think the biggest we ever measured was 16 inches long. The super smooth skin avocado is the Antillean avocado, honestly it´s very underrated and more flavorful than the hass when grown correctly.

Yum! Used to make something like this for husband. He would have loved the way you make it with a bite of chile and some tart. His preferences were a LOT like yours. Sweet, for the most part he could take or leave. Except a fruit pie. His favorite (in his limited experience and travel) was a TART cherry pie. He traveled in Western Europe in the Navy but did not have any experience really with any other countries except a brief visit to Puerto Rico. All he tested there was the alcohol. But he liked things hotter than I do and I am a New Mexican born and bred who thinks a spoon or handful of hatch green chile is good on almost everything. But I NEVER considered it in a fruit salad. Or avocado. Ah well, it’s not the end of the world, just one of those DAMN I wish I gave him fruit salads like THAT. Every single thing you added. The papaya seed for a bite of pepper, the tartness, everything. Great video and thank you for the long neck review.

@Weird Explorer, my 2 cents. I prefer the Haas, but too many people treat it like the green skinned. It should be almost black, and I let it get super ripe. My sister in law said she throws away those that get to where I like them, because she thinks if they aren't yellow-green and a little firm, they must be rotten. NO! Haas are at their most flavourful and buttery at this point. It there isna touch of mold at the stem attachment, just scoop that away. Dark spots within the flesh are perfectly fine and normal! If you wait that long, or buy the seconds at your grocery, you will have the best guacamole you've ever had. Personal note: I just don't like the Florida kind, because I never acquired a taste for a combo of fruity and fatty. I wish (as a Vegan) that I liked more actual fruits, and enjoyed more of them raw, but I simply don't, and those I do, I want cooked. For example, applesauce, versus raw apples (which hurt my gums); marmalade, versus raw oranges; etc.. As for the "garbage bowl," that's just dumb. I compost, as opposed to what Grandma did. She she just threw her scraps from a bowl atop her garden rows, and let it rot in the sun. I have what I call my "slop bucket," an old, black plastic pot some tree or bush came in decades ago, into which I line with dried leaves from my arbor. I drop all kitchen scraps into it, as well as the shit from our dog's pad, and when it's full, onto the building compost pile it goes, topped with a fresh layer of leaves or cut grass, and an oversprinkling of compost from the other pile. When I get to the bottom of the other pile, what's there is fully ready for the garden, and I start over, adding to it, topping it with leaves and the top of the first pile. No equipment to buy, but for a pitchfork and shovel. I hope this technique helps someone. Be well.

As a Californian who grew up with exclusively Hass avocados and was never really wild about them, I was in love the first time I had a Florida avocado! It actually tastes like a fruit! It was juicy and a little sweet. Sooo good! I’m still trying to get myself a good FL variety to grow here. I would absolutely eat those way more if I had them. I’m not a fan of the “mouthful of fat” thing that Hass has going on. In the right place it’s good, but I wish we had more avo options here!

Californian here! There are quite a few varieties of green-skinned avos here, my favorite being the Zutano. For green skinned avocados, you do generally wait longer to ripen. Some types can be all brown/black and squishy one the outside when fully ripe, what you would normally expect to be overripe/going bad as a Hass.

I know nothing about MiamiFruit except when they send you cool stuff, but I’m so happy that people grow their own organic fruit that it just warms my heart. ❤️ My green thumb is gangrene only, since I’ve managed to brutally murder a lot of plants and never grew one, but it’s more reason to be in complete awe of anyone who grows any plant, especially food - start to finish. BTW, I did try your suggestion of papaya seeds back in the day, it’s… it was.. a fun learning experience, but I don’t see people using it as pepper anytime soon. But I LOVE learning from you. and Rachel Rae sucks… Omg. I remember her show from back in the day, it consisted of her using chicken stock and beef stock in everything and hating mayonnaise.. this lady was never my cup of tea.. she is everything the America housewife shouldn’t be. I prefer Martha Stewart, because she talks about food quality on her show. I love organic fruit straight from the trees, the difference is not from x-species avocado it grew from, I wish we were lucky enough to tell the difference between species, but from the fact that it just came straight off the tree and it’s just that fresh. I hope especially more Americans (and fellow Israelis) would learn that and start supporting more private and organic agriculture. As a cancer patient I learned that the hard way. Please pray for me. I need it.
