Long Overdue Trip - Animal Crossing New Leaf - Ep. 12

We finally made it to the island! There we caught some brand new bugs for the museum, got some new fruit to bring back to Wayback, and even had time for a tour!
The town of Wayback, meant to revisit the now nostalgic New Leaf, through the lense of 2024 and post-New Horizons. We'll be playing a mostly vanilla save, aside from a little hacking to move houses. I did my time Path Plot Resetting, I refuse to ever do it again. Everything else from the events to public works projects and the museum will be 100% vanilla!

I loved going on bug hunts on the island after 7pm in New Leaf. It was honestly so fun and relaxing to just go to the island to try and catch 40 rare bugs on the island as fast as I could. Definitely one of my favourite new leaf memories and something I miss doing in New Horizons. Also my favourite tour was the Scavenger Hunt tour. It was just a cool idea for a tour and a mini game I would have loved to have seen return in New Horizons.

There's this one outfit I like to wear... It consisted of a blossom tee, gray formal pants or dry-denim pants, yellow sneakers or brown slip-ons, and a flower of choice. I'd say it looks nice on me when paired with the "It's a date!" hairdo.

God they took out so much heart out of this series with New Horizons. 😭 I love that game but having never played NL and seeing you, wow I’m so sad. A bunch of people that still have it are returning to it because they feel NH is a disappointment. Yes, it expanded the game more, but it lacks the same charm NL has. Many prefer Wild World, or even the GameCube version, more though because of the villagers, but I prefer New Leaf because the content it has is more appealing to me than the others. It’s very common for players to go back to older games after newer ones don’t meet expectations. Look at the sims community, for example. Those that still have the Sims 3 play it because the Sims 4 absolutely sucks, even after you buy all the dlc. There’s only so much you can do in NH before it becomes stale and boring to play. Replay-ability is very low and the only thing I’ve found that makes people still play is starting over or redecorating their islands.

I grew up playing AC on my own, so at the very least I can say the games are still enjoyable as single player experiences

New Leaf is much like the older ones, where it can still be fun to play without friends. New Horizons, however, heavily depends on online play, as it becomes stale once you’ve progressed to a certain point.

Thanks to you Crystal, yesterday I started playing New Leaf for the first time since 2020 and I absolutely love getting back to the best game of the series. When coming back, I was immediately feeling a wave of nostalgia to when I first played the Welcome Amiibo update and watched your "Rosewoof" playthrough during my Freshman Year in high school. Can't wait to continue working on my town as well as continue watching more of your "Wayback" playthrough! QOTD: The set outfit I like having for my character is either a fedora hat or paperboycap and the same glasses your character have. The rest of the outfit is mostly long sleeve shirts, pants, and black rain boots.

In New Leaf I have seasonal outfits picked out late game after the whole Gracie fashion check is over with. Before the fashion check I just wear whatever. My favourite tour is literally all of the big catching ones and the tuna one

In hew horizons i have a closet outside near resident services, its so easy to change outfits that i do it all the time 😂 but in older games i tend to stick to one outfit, usually glasses, a green top of some kind, jeans, and big black boots 😌

Regarding feedback on livestreams, I wanted to add I’m interested in watching future ones. I haven’t watched them now only because I’m working through the Fantasy Life streams. I think it would be great to have the option to watch them. QOTD: My go to outfit in new leaf is normally the long sleeve cat dress with boots. I also love the Link set. In my original town used to run around with Midna’s mask on too.

Hi crystal I didn’t play new leaf 🍃 yesterday because I had a rough day yesterday but I am definitely going to play more new leaf 🍃 today and try to catch the ore fish and the blow fish 🐟 and the coelacanth I already caught everything in the river now I need to focus on the ocean 🌊 fish 🐠 and I still need to catch the ant 🐜 and the fly and then I should be good for the season ❤😊

QOTD: I have my oval glasses, and in NH there's a certain short hairstyle I like that's part of the set you buy from Nook Miles. I like most sweaters, pants, and shoes, but black oval glasses are a necessity!!! I'm not in LOVE with the mermaid furniture either, but I AM in love with ridiculous completionism, so I always try to get it. Edit: Just remembered I DID have a set outfit in ACNL! I had the pink ponytail (not a wig, from Harriet's), black oval glasses, pink argyle sweater. I think I maybe had black Mary Janes, but I'm not sure about that or the pants. As for the new QOTD, I really liked the scavenger hunts!
