With Wout, Mathieu, Hermans, Pidcock and Alaphillipe-Sagan-Pogacar (only until their 18th, never pro) and even Thibeau Nys as cyclocrosser -19 yrs old- winning the European Championship on the road categorie between 19 and 23 years (meaning he was competing guys 3 yrs older than he is... The road cyclists better start doing cyclo cross in the winter; 🙃

Amazing that with 30km to go, leaders/domestiques from rival teams won’t get together to work for 15-20km to close a solo rider. Save the sandbagging for the last 10km when you are back at the front of the race.

Finishing third is nothing for you? He ride quite nicely actually, able to stay in the top group, only loosing a bit on the last climb, then manage to come back. Third place is quite a success.

I agree, they really are pushing him to become a future Tour de France winner, but this doesn't seem to be his biggest strength. When the climbs are too long, he seems to have the wrong body, but he really seems to be at his best in these kind of races, remember how he won in San Sebastian at such a young age.
