The Balsimo crash looks eerily similar to Jakobsen at Tour of Poland. Whoever is responsible for safety learns nothing from history so it repeats a few years later. Would be better to have no barriers at all instead of the cheap excuses being used now. The barrier that is initially struck in a crash simply gives way allowing for head on collision with the exposed edge of the next one at nearly full speed.

#askgcn In ball games or other gambling-prone sports, it has been unfortunate to see athletes and referees fix the games. I was wondering how grey is the line of riders asking other riders what their plans for the stage are, insofar as if a breakaway stage hunter gets a “free pass” from the GC leader, should we count it as “fixing” the game, to some level? Honestly not sure how I feel about it. Any thoughts from the GCN community and Presenters?

He seem untouched by cold weather, like in stage 2. of Vuelta Catalunya, or today. But for the last two Tours, he didn’t respond so well to the effort when exposed to heat and sun.

There needs to be a conversation on the criteria for the KOM. Here we have a few riders such as Greschke, Calmejane and Scaroni fighting among themselves for the handful of points available on the intermediate climbs to try and close the gap to the GC leader, only for that leader to scoop up a boatload of points by winning the final uphill climb to the finish - because a stage win is a bigger priority - and thereby increasing the gap even further. This has happened quite a few times in the last few years, especially at the Tour with Pog and Jonas also claiming the KOM Jersey along with their two GC wins - something which I am sure is not a priority for them. It would also save them some time during the daily post stage jersey ceremony. The same thing is now happening in this Giro.
@bullten5416Күн бұрын
I don't agree with you. It is what Poggy is doing that is exceptional. Fight in absolutely every mountain stage. How Can you not give KOM to someone Who has topped every Mountain finish ? It is well deserved. Last year, Giulo Ciccone did win the KOM in tour de France.

I am pulling hard for Vingegaard is ready. As a cycling fan, I really want to see a competitive TDF. As much as I appreciate Pogacar's amazing racing, the TDF won't be nearly as good without JV to counter Pogi. Also, the best want to face the best. I truly believe that if Pogacar wins the Giro and the TDF but without JV or a fully recovered Roglic it won't mean nearly as much to him.
@kkryspinКүн бұрын
Well, I doubt that Roglic won't be fully recovered, since he only had scratches and bruises after the accident. It's not the same for Jonas or Remco, but they should still be in the Tour come July. Now, here's a fun question: Do you think Jonas even noticed that Pog was injured last year? Or was he too busy admiring himself in the mirror? Should his win have an asterisk next to it, or maybe a little note saying, 'Won by default because Pog had a boo-boo'? :-)
@Liofa73Күн бұрын
Pog has won 2 TDFs and beaten JV in one of them. He doesn’t have to prove he’s better than JV, because Pog has won so many other races that JV wouldn’t have a chance in, all of the one day races.

@@Liofa73 I'm not saying Pogacar wouldn't win with both at their best. I'm just saying I want a competitive race. Stage 15 (Lyon to Grand Colombier): Pogačar won this stage in hot conditions, displaying his strength and endurance. 2021 Tour de France: Stage 17 (Muret to Saint-Lary-Soulan Col du Portet): This stage was contested in hot weather, and Pogačar emerged victorious, solidifying his lead in the general classification. @@kkryspin I’m not saying he never had good performances in hot weather, what I’m saying is his bad days always happened in the hot (all 5 times jonas gained time on him in TdF were in hot weather). On the other hand not only has pogačar always delivered wins in the cold (TdF21s8, RvV23, Giro24s15, P-N22, LBL24, Lom21, Cat24,…) but most importantly he never had a bad day in the cold, you can’t deny he prefers cold weather, I’m pretty sure he also admitted it in an interview last year.

@@smimi2333 So, you've built up a thesis to prove your point without any bullet proof data. Because, you know, every athlete is totally immune to either hot or cold, right? If you're adamant that Jonas is just a beast in hot weather, then let's reminisce about the scorching 2021 Tour de France Stage 15 (Céret to Andorra-la-Vella) and the blistering 2021 Tour de France Stage 11 (Sorgues to Malaucène), shall we? Oh wait, my bad, those were actually quite toasty, weren't they? But hey, my main point here is that Tadej beat Jonas in both sweltering heat and freezing cold, which clearly means you've got tons of data to back up your thesis, right? Because everyone knows that Tadej absolutely despises altitude and long climbs, but hey, his results totally disprove all those rumors, don't they?
