I dunno mate, there's a lot of resources out in civvy street that can educate someone to become proficient in the art of rifle shooting. Being bought up in the country and shooting from am early age can nurture an excellent marksman, skilled in fieldcraft. Stalking animals, with their enhanced senses, makes a lot of techniques second nature, without them having to be taught. I'll hazard a guess that Mark was dragged out shooting by his dad when he was very young.🙂

For some time I hunted/shot with muzzle loading rifles but on hitting six years of age stalking in close which ML rifles require I moved to centrefire. So, reloading for me seemed to right way to go I enjoy doing it. When you de capped your brass are you neck or full length sizing? You must reload for your 260 quite often, do you anneal the brass and if so, how often please? Lastly, when you seat the bullet, do you crimp it? Cheers...........Richard NZ

Hi Richard ok so I always just fl size nowadays, I use the brass for about 5 firings and bit them (you can anneal but I figure I’ve had my moneys worth from the case by then so..!) and no I don’t crimp them, if neck tensions are about right then in a bolt action you shouldn’t really need to 👍

On your reloading, if you would wet tumble your brass you can skip a lot of extra steps you are having to do and it will make your brass look like brand new. Wet tumble with stainless steel pins using hot water, leme shine (one teaspoon) & dish soap (one teaspoon), tumble for about 30-45 min's, dry, then I put mine into a vibratory tumbler with flitz to put a nice coat of wax on the case to help protect it, for about 15 min's. But by doing this I can skip having to clean the primer pocket & flash hole and it makes the brass show any signs of damage. But I think you will be amazed how clean your brass is, even the inside is very shinny, like a new penny.

Another great video. I neck size my cases as well but full length size after about 5 shots. I find the shoulders move forward making it harder to chamber a round.

Thanks mate, I tend to bin my brass after about 5 shots as the neck tensions begin to vary and I can't be doing with annealing! I figure if I've got five goes from it then I've had my money's worth from it ;-)

Notice you had the primers in your hand as you put them in the Lee loader , I find that if you place the loader tray over the primer packet and then turn the lot over there is no sweat contamination. Thoughts. Love your long range work I think all your viewers would like to do likewise cheers

How many times do you use the casings over again? You're trimming the neck - is it only the metal in the neck that is "stretched" when shooting?

Nice to see these videos. I think that he only repairs necks because he uses them only in one gun. Body of the case won"t stretch for that reason any more. So it is only the neck what is stretching and need to be adjust on right size and length. More accuracy.

Okay, mate, we lost something in the language! You said "I only ever neck size cases". Do you mean you ALWAYS neck size your fired cases, or that you NEVER neck size your cases? In the Americanized version, the word "EVER" would be left out, and we would say "I only neck size my cases" if we meant to say that we neck size and do NOT full-length resize. I think you mean to say you only neck size, since you will be firing those cases in the same rifle, so no need to full-length resize. I wish that US citizens were allowed to use suppressors without the BS fee and paperwork! Protects people's hearing and reduces "noise pollution". It sure is nice to see a man perform with his long gun, rather than blabber on like so many KZbinrs are doing! Excellent videos!

Mr. Rips,Have you seen the new Hornady 143 ELD-X bullet yet? Just wondering if you think you'll be able to shoot it (stabilize it) as well as feeding into your Short action mag. It appears to be a little longer than the 140 AMAX and looks to be a better bullet than the SST. What are your thoughts?

Excellent video! I have a few questions: 1. It seems reloading takes a lot of work and equipment. Is it worth it? How much can you save? I suppose you do it because you like it too. 2. Do you have to pay to the landowners, ask them if they allow you to hunt, the land is yours or how does it work? 3. And finally, are you allowed to carry your rifle next to you while driving? Hi mate reloading roughly halves the cost of ammo but as it is tailored to your exact rifle it is generally more accurate and consistent than factory ammo! I shoot for free on these farms, sometimes finding ground is difficult but if you get to know the farmers they are often pleased to have someone controlling the pest species on their land. As for the carrying the rifle in the truck it must be kept unloaded and in a case on public roads, in this video I'm driving on private land ;-)

It´s forbidden to carry your rifle like that, no matter if it´s unloaded or your are in your private land (here more and more things are forbidden, like night vision scopes, silencers...but that´s another topic). The brass stretches and thins with firing so after 6-8 firings it gets a bit weak to maintain decent accuracy

I love all of your videos and am always wanting to see more. I am a competitive pistol shooter and a 3 gun competition shooter as well. You my friend have now inspired me into the long range target arena. I currently am awaiting the arrival of my new Ruger Enhanced Precision Rifle chambered in the 6.5 Creedmoor. I am currently doing a lot of research on long range rifle scopes. I see the vast majority of the Nightforce Scopes are on the second focal plane. Are yours? I have done a vast amount of research and everything I read for the most part points to the use of a first focal plane scope for the longer range shooting. I do see others using the Nightforce Scopes for long range shots also. I am just curious as to if your Nightforce is in the second focal plane why you chose the second focal plane platform. Is there an advantage that I am not seeing? I am currently looking at the Schmidt & Bender 5-25 x 56 PMII Scopes. These are all first focal plane models. If you can provide any information that I may be missing out on it would be greatly be appreciated. I will also be taking my first long range shooting lessons in June. I am also interested to learn what the camera with the large amount of zoom you are using is, the zoom on it is incredible and really makes the true distance come to life when zoomed out, that is one of the best features of your videos. Any information you can provide will be invaluable to me and I am sure a lot of others out there. Thanks for taking the extra time to make these great video's and Keep up the outstanding work!

Excellent! Firstly good choice of rifle and calibre, using a 140 grain bullet this will make a superb long range rifle. My nightforce is indeed a first focal plane (FFP) this is becoming very popular for long range. To see the two options explained go to the vortex optics web site where they have a video to show the difference ;-)

FRANKIE HOWARD Hi mate to be honest with the quality of decent factory Ammo these days there’s often not a great deal to gain in terms of accuracy so if your only shooting a small amount then it will take you a long time to recuperate the cost of a reloading set up.

I think i backed it down a bit as accuracy was slightly better at lower velocity. I'm not sure that my loads were up to 3000, think that was off someone else's crono that turned out to be a little off! Between 2750 and 2850 I think would be more like it, to get much more it starts trashing barrels in the 260

Hi Richard I'm only actually reloading for the 260, the other two rifles I use for closer range work so accuracy of a high standard isn't quite so important! I'm generally using reloader 19 If I can get it if not h4350

No preference its more based on availability locally with powders listed in the manual. I tend to find less extreme spread in velocities with the reloader though.

+260rips Double base powders are designed give a smoother longer push to the bullet rather than the relatively shorter sharper shove of single based powders. I guess it it's trade-off between that and the temperature/storage characteristics of the powders. I'm using IMR4831 in my Creedmoor and get raggedy holes at 100m with a velocity spread of 5fps (SD=3fps), but just 0.1 of a grain either side of that sweet spot and the velocity spread goes jumps up to circa 40fps.

øyvind andre hansen Buy the best you can afford, I like nightforce scopes and an ideal one would be the atacr. If it's really out of your budget and you can't get a 2nd hand one you should be able to pick up a nightforce nxs such as the 5.5-22 x 50. Another brand which is cheaper yet good value for money would be a sightron

GRT1005 I'm a big fan of the 260 (I'm on my 2nd barrel on this rifle) nice easy shooting accurate calibre. I'm using a blue printed rem700 with a jewel trigger, 24" bartlien 1-8 barrel, nightforce 5.5-22x50 and an Mae moderator shooting 140 grain A-max
