Quick update in reference to Falcon v4 Controllers & Smart Receivers: The V4 controllers have 2 modes of operation - 32 port mode and 48 port mode. In 32 port mode, you can have 1024 pixels per port, and in 48 port mode it's 704 per port. In either case, a ports pixel count can be split out over either the port itself, or distributed over a number of smart outputs (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, 1f etc) In your specific case, you want to have the F16 with an expansion - which takes you to 32 ports - if you add the smarts, you can either have them as smart ports from the 32 ports, OR you can add them as 33-36, which would then take you into 48 port mode, which then would reduce the pixel count per port to 704. If you want 16 local ports, and lots of remote ports, I would personally buy the Differential Expansion board, and give yourself 4 differential outputs which can carry 4 chains of smarts - therefore giving you a heavily distributed 1024 pixels per port!

I do believe that you may be a bit off on your port splitting. While it is true that you have a maximum number of channels per port, they do not have to be evenly split between the outputs per port. IOW, if port 1 is configured for 800 channels, output 1A could be configured for 600 channels and output 1B could be configured for the remaining 200 channels. At least this is the way it works on the Ver 3 F48.
