Long Sword in Monster Hunter Wilds is great... I'm just not good at it

Longsword feels so great Fam but I can see it being a learning curve for some as how fast paced and upkeep it can take!

In Freedom Unite I mained LS. I still suck with LS, but GU Valor LS and Rise LS especially got me loving the weapon again. I loved using Sakura Slash to get the gauge up. Now Wilds just took my excitement through the roof with the weapon. So satisfying to do the helm breaker with follow up. I love holding the Spirit Slash button then unleashing it for instant gauge increase. By the end of my time with the demo, I started incorporating focus mode and just letting my red mode combos flow instead of going straight for Helm Breaker.

Oh thats the move I forgot to do. There were a couple of times I should've went for it too during those downs haha!

Totally agree 💯 longsword feels great But tbh it takes along time to get good at it

@ I don’t think it will be that hard to master with all the new ways to keep up red it will be fun to try out different playstyles

Yo overall that was a good run. And im pretty sluggish with longsword myself and try to do training for it when wilds releases. Which also got me questioning if most of the same weapons from the same monsters do more damage than different weapons like velkhana is ice so you'd have to fight it with the same elemental weapon kno wat im saying

Yea it’s the weapon I use the least these days since I played LS so much in my early days I’ve gravitated toward other weapons!

This is embarassing to say, but as someone who retired as a longsword main to pursue weapons that to me seem funner than it, I don't like what they did to the weapon. Back in monster hunter freedom unite, when some of the first longswords were made, these ones were unsafe as weapons. No options left you in advantage state. That's what I loved about longsword, the fear of fainting to anything. With the new longswords, you can counter out of almost everything. There is no fun anymore, just counter, counter, counter. Every longsword option is safe now.

I get it, but the counter does require timing and practice to get good at. I can understand how people find playing the weapon fun as they master the counter mechanics.

dont listen to them they are Rurikhan followers who hates on long sword. They dont realize there are always other weapons that can outperform Long Sword

@@CounterStrikeZer0 I was actually a longsword main before, I know that there are other weapons to combat and outperform longsword. I really just don't like the changes they made to the weapon as an OG longsword main. Ps I never enjoyed the changes before I ever heard of ruri

​@@Grand-qj8gkWell, that's like your opinion man. I don't miss how unsafe LS was in Freedom Unite. I hated the changes in 3rd gen, but at the end of 4th they started incorporating things I love and Iceborne/Rise got me enjoying the weapon again.
