The BEST cast on video anywhere! Thank-you for not rambling on about irrelevant drivel.... and THANK-YOU for using huge needles and yarn in colors that contrast with the background so it is easy to see EXACTLY what you are doing. Beautifully well planned and beautifully well executed tutorial! PS/in 2007 I bought a "I taught myself to knit" kit for $10.00 at Walmart and yes, I learned to knit beautiful items. I enjoy watching the tutorials to keep my knitting accurate especially since I haven't knitted in about 6 years due to osteoarthritis in my hands.(It's like learning to knit again... how to hold the yarn and keep the tension equal, etc) I'm a retired art teacher and some tutorials are aggravating to watch because of too much useless jabbering plus difficulty seeing the yarn and needles. Your video is perfect... even the lighting!

If you update your videos, remember to mention that the 1st row is done along with the cast on stitches. So depending on the pattern, either a knitted or purled long tail cast on should be used.

Does it matter whether we put the short tail side on the index finger and the running yarn on the thumb side...im asking because i did this by switching the order...and i noticed that if i put the running yarn end on index finger .the running yarn and the short yarn side are in the right position for knit stitch..im a beginner..trying to do this first stitch ..so maybe im wrong ...but can someone tell me the correct way

thank you for sharing this video. I'm fairly new to knitting. I was shown then I was young how to. my question is there are so many cast on techniques do the have different reasons why they're would be recommended for the pattern? or maybe it's there a difference or can you cast on any way you want?
@bhookedcrochet8 жыл бұрын
Some cast on methods are required for certain projects or stitches (for example, if you need a stretchy edge). Others are used for decorative purposes. I tend to use the long tail cast on for just about everything. I think preference plays a pretty big role too :)

Does the slip knot from the beginning "count" as a stitch? It doesn't seem to have the same weight as the other stitches
@contactjoy41403 жыл бұрын
No. The slip knit is skipped in the first row of knitting then woven in as an end.
@taylormatthews74887 жыл бұрын
So just keep casting on till you run out of yarn?
@contactjoy41403 жыл бұрын
You keep casting on until you have the number of stitches on your needle that your patten recommends.

@@contactjoy4140 idk what kind of stupid juice I was drinking 3 years ago but I appreciate you answering my question. At this time all i ever do is use long tail cast on :) and so far I'm a decent knitter...progress

Normal cast on the tread is on the left this way the tread is one the right side, 😔
