I watched the other review first. Couldn't believe from the few things he said that it was that bad a bag. Especially to the point he said "DO NOT BUY". So I really appreciate this honest review from you countering some of the things he said. For the price this appears to be a rather decent bag for many situations. Thanks for your efforts to inform!

I am a 5 foot nine mail at about 210 pounds. Backpack fits me great. I took off the cordage on the side and replaced it with bungee cord and attached it into extra areas. Works fantastic. I also took the bungee cord and crisscrossed it over the pouch in the back. This gives me the ability to hang some clothes to dry him to store some extra items. I love the pack. I agree with your pros and cons.

Brilliant video and excellent review. Whenever I see posts about people asking about what bag to buy, I'll happily post pros and cons of the ones I have but always add the caveat of that like all camping kit it's a very personal choice and what works for one will not work for another.

Ended the last 500 miles of 2021 exclusively with this pack. Not one single problem. I stand by this back if you are a taller person with a long medium to larger torso. Never once a shoulder or neck issue due to the strap design. Gonna exclusively use this pack for the enter year of 2022, meaning this pack will get around another 2500-3000 miles this year. I will check in periodically with the pack as I can. It's gonna get 125 miles between now and Monday to further start the new year off right. It got 77 miles between 12/31/21 and 1/2/22. (47 of those 1/1-1/2 to start the year off with its first trip of 22'). We have trips for every weekend in January with this weekend being the longest and the other trips between 55-75 or so miles so January 22 is gonna see plenty of action with this pack for the new year). Happy New Year!

Well I was up till last week. I've used this bag to death for around 4 years now and it's been superb. However last week, whilst the pack was fully loaded, I was putting it on and normally I lean forward and tighten the should straps then fully tightened the hip belts. For some reason, this time instead of leaning forward, for some reason I bounced the bag up whilst tightening the shoulder straps (stupidly) and it tore the shoulder strap wheres it attached to the bag 🤦‍♂️ My fault rather than the bag however I was just heading out on a camp after an hours drive so wasn't giving up. I tightened the load lifters so they took the weight rather than the shoulder strap connections and it worked fine for my hours hike to camp and back. Sadly though I don't think it's fixable and tbh I've had hundreds of camps out of it so I feel it's done well and will get another. 👍

@@NoviceWildCamper four years is a good point for a $89 pack. That's about what I got out of it using off an on depending on trip. My problem wasn't anything broke, the straps and hip belt stopped losing it's grip and would loosen up and not stay tight. For someone who doesn't backpack but about once to three times a year, I'd still recommend this pack as an entry level pretty good pack though :)

@@NoviceWildCamper there are little loops across the back on the bottom, sides, and top of the back rectangle mesh that you can put it through. It makes a perfect X. The pack came in Monday afternoon. Packed it last night after work. Took it out at day break this A.M. for a 6 mile out 6 mile in hike at out local wildlife management area. No issues with load lifters coming loose. No issue with hip belt or shoulder strap coming loose. I was full loaded with my 5 day loadout of 23 pounds and did not feel it pulling on my shoulders. Did not hurt my hips. Definitely no rubbing on the neck from the shoulder straps, but maybe because I am 6'1" and 218 pounds with broad shoulders and the pack can't rub my neck. My bud that was with me hiked with it a mile and had no issues with rubbing, pulling load dropping, or anything, but he is also 6' and 230 pounds. @@NoviceWildCamper I'll post a good review here next week. We're leaving Thursday when I get off and heading to southern Virginia to do some AT miles. We were going to do 51 miles, but we've changed it going to do 74 miles from Friday to Monday. I think with the terrain in southern Virginia, it will be the perfect place to try this pack. There are several straight up climbs with no switch backs to relieve shoulder or leg stress from the pack pressing in the hips, and plenty of rock crossing that will require mobility and use of arms to involve the shoulders. I have an 18" neck and broad chest from working out, and I never felt a rub today at all. I was thankful it came in a couple days early as I thought I didn't hit the first delivery date option in time. More to come later next week, brother

Good review and comments exactly right - what one person likes another won't....I've just bought a Lowe Alpine 65 on a recommendation but its not for me so it's going back. Doesn't mean Lowe Alpine are crap. If we all thought the same and did the same life would have no variety! Some people buy a brand just to be seen to have it or rubbish a cheaper brand because it doesn't fit their image - all the gear, no idea.

Exactly my thoughts. There would be only one car, tent, food type etc. If there was no variety in what people liked. Ridiculous statement. Take a look at my Regatta vid in rain and high winds. Stood up to winds that most people would only take a hilleberg in but it worked and only £75, a tenth of a hilleberg. And let's face it, not many people get to take a hilleberg to its limits anyway so they're a bit overkill for most of the camping in this country. Atb 👍

Another 75 miles since Thursday on this pack. This pack totes 22 pounds easily every trip I've used it on far. This pack now has over 200 miles on my back. Before January 1, 2022, it will have 500 total miles. I'm going to keep the pack. Saw another video where Luke is now downing the Granite Gear pack, which I have as well (my son uses it and has over a 2000 miles on it). Perhaps if Luke tried gear that was proper to his small body size they may work better for him. Hard to test things that are too big for you and give it a bad review LOL. Anyway, I'm enjoying this pack and as I said, it totes well and when fitted for the proper body size it fits as should. Keep on keeping on, brother! Enjoy your videos, my friend!

Someone linked the previous great review on the thread LOL. My sister and brother and I were backpack thru North Carolina a couple years ago. He's a big a ass and know it all in person as well. Could you pull the waist strap out entirely? I am looking for a second backpack that I might occaisionaly lend to my skinny little boy scout nephew. Last time I lent him a pack he couldn't get the waist band tight enough, which led me to wonder if there is a decent ultralight pack that I could potentially swap in custom made belt for skeleton boy.

That made me giggle. Wish I had the same problem 🤣 yes you can remove the waist strap completely if need be. It is only held in place by a velcro pad for adjusting up and down slightly or just pull it straight out. 👍

I liked your review and my only concern is it is not very adjustable. I am 5'8" and 160lbs and I can't imagine it will fit you at 6'4" the same as me at 5'8" with no adjustments. I like the hip belt to be around my hips of course so most packs you can adjust the shoulder straps up or down once you get the hip belt on so you carry the weight on your hips and not on your shoulders for the majority of the weight. All else seems perfect for me but I would like your comment regarding the One Size Fit's All approach on this pack?

They do different sizes of this bag now but thus still may be too big for you. If you measure your torso length and check on the naturehike website it will show if its suitable. If not I'd recommend going into a proper hiking shop and getting measured for a bag and testing it out in the shop. Good luck 👍

Hey NWC, i very much appreciate your full and informative review. I currently use a Teton Sports Explorer 65 backpack for 4-day + hikes; it's a 65-liter pack that weighs 2.344 kilos. The main compartment I think is sub 60l but in conjunction with the outer pockets then yes it's accurate. Chinese companies tend to add these into the overall litres so you have to be aware. Ive had more than enough gear in this with large winter tent and winter equipment plus I have to carry all my filming equipment and battery and power bank back ups so if you're not doing that as well then it's more than enough but obvisly depends what you pack. Take a 3 person black label hilleberg and you might struggle.

@@NoviceWildCamper Thanks again. The published capacity dimensions of my Teton Sports 65 liter backpack calculate up to the manufacturer's capacity claims and match my own measurements. Calculations of the Naturehike 60 liter backpack's published dimensions don't even match half of their claimed capacity. so I am very leary: hence my focus on their claims. It seems to me that this is more likely a 40 liter capacity pack if the outer pockets are included, which will not be sufficient for my needs. I've reached out to Naturehike directly for confirmation of their capacity claims, and unfortunately they have chosen not to respond which says a lot.

Right there with you bruvver … it’s a great little pack for the price …. You covered everything …. Luke from the OGR probably overloaded it by packing out his Axe, big ass Rambo knife and his 38 handgun into the woods so sure it was uncomfortable … anything above 30lb and you definitely feel it on your shoulders… but then it’s not for that… it’s for overnighters or short multi day trips with lightweight gear and for that it’s perfect …. I did see Luke’s review on this pack and some things I agreed with and others I was scratching my head. I have this pack and as a 5ft 2” lady with an 18” torso it was ok for short hikes but not for multiple day hikes. The quality is excellent and the features are great. I only had two issues:- 1. The sternum strap just didn’t work for me (it was more of an under the boob strap). 2. The torso length is not adjustable (22” - so it just didn’t fit me) Overall I agree that this pack is good value for money. My best mate Rebecca has the same pack and it fits her perfectly! 68 miles on the AT in Virginia this past four days. I had the pack loaded with 22.5 pounds total weight for the four day trip. I had zero issues with the pack. There was plenty of room for my 15* Hyke and Byke Eolus sleeping bag, my 10 year old Mountainsmith (bad reviews from Luke) 2p tent that has about 7000 miles on it in the past 10 years. The shoulder straps never rubbed against my neck, unless I tightened down the center strap (which does not affect the load positioning on even the $400 packs), but as long as I left in a neutral position (as it should be) it was absolutely fine (the wife used the 40 +5L pack, which has no center strap across chest with no issues as well). It carried the load with no issue and placed the weight over the hips and legs as should. If I wanted to put some weight on the front of my shoulders, I adjusted the front load lifters to lift the load a little (not the load lifters on the shoulder, just the front load lifters) and put it on the front of my shoulders which is where about 20% of the load should be (not on the top and back of shoulders). We stayed above 4000 ft elevation for several miles on several occasions and scrambled across many rocky areas with no issues with the pack or load. We traveled under the rhododendrons with them dropping down and scrapping across the pack with no tears or rips. Naturehike states the 60L is not made for anyone under 5'7" and the 40L is not for anyone over 5'6". I would say that is true and not true, but I would measure to make sure the pack fits the neck to crown of the illiac crest. A friend of mine is 5'5" and the pack fit him well when he tried it for a couple mile (he has a 19" neck to illiac crest), but the 40L the wife was using fit another friend that is 5'11" (he has a shorter 17.5" torso....long as legs lol) with no issue. I'm 6'1" and 210 pounds and the pack worked perfect without a hiccup. I am going to use it again next month on the 40 mile trek across Maryland via the Appalachian Trail and again in December on the 78 mile trek through Georgia on the AT. That will put almost 200 miles on the pack in those three trips, not including the shorter two night trips we are doing on local trails between then (we backpack everyone other weekend). My main pack is the Gregory Katmai 55, but if this pack keeps going strong, it may become my go to until it wears out :). Just wanted to update you like I said i would when we came off the trail. But I've got a butt load of equipment after doing this for 42 years and some of it is equipment that is claimed to be crap and it's not. I would say if you're going to steer ppl away from budget gear, be up front about it. I have high end and low end gear and both have their use depending what I am doing with it and the intended use for it is what matters. You can't review a $40 tent backpacking and claim it's not a backpacking tent when even the manufacturer doesn't claim it's a backpacking tent. Use most stuff for it's intended use and it'll usually work out fine. My brother and sister have never bought high end gear in their lives and everything they buy cheap they mod to fit what they want to use it for and it works. Anyway, I'll be out on the long trail again middle of next month and will update. Got a couple short overnighters between then and it will be used then as well :)

Nice constructive counterpoint to Luke's review...which I just saw. He, and pretty much every other reviewer out there harp on how sweaty their backs get. I've been hiking since the early 80s and never knew a sweaty back was a 'thing'. I figured since every other part of me was profusely sweating that my back would too and so, I have always had a sweaty back. I would actually prefer to have the pack snug against my back so it moves with me than have it separated in order to provide some small ventilation which, in the end does little. @@NoviceWildCamper Just back from my first test of this pack. What a great value. It works well for my torso length and height (6'0""). It does have quirks. I can see how the front left "bottle holder" can interfere with women and is a design flaw for that demographic unfortunately. It works well to hold my can of bear spray. It does have quirks. But I love it overall. Very light and comfortable when adjusted correctly.

Hi. I'd still like recommend it if you want a framed pack. It has never let me down. However I also reviewed the 3ful qidian pro against this on a later video as that is frameless and lighter but it failed due to tearing at the hip belts which is a shame as I really liked that bag. 3ful have sent me a new upgraded version to test out and I've been using it most of this year and so far it has been faultless so if you want lighter you could look at this new one. 👍

@fishy7026 there were a few upgrades but I can't find the messages from them. I've been using it for most of this year and so far it's been spot on. They claim its waterproof, as do many, but it's not fully waterproof like every other bag that says it is and then provides a cover for it so I'd recommend a nyloflume pack liner which is what is use and then don't have to worry about anything getting wet. 👍

I bought one of these trying to get a lighter pack over my existing 60L. Straight away, it seems a lot smaller in comparison. I double checked I'd not been accidentally sent the 40L version - it is embroidered with 60 'liter' and weighed at 1.25kg is roughly as expected for the "60L". It was ordered direct from naturehike's store. On measuring it though my suspicions are confirmed: 27cm wide (i.e. top edge of back padding), 18cm deep (across side, padding to rear netting), 85cm tall (bottom of rear padding to extended roll top with one turn to close). Multiplied out this comes to 41L. Can anybody else with this pack do some measurements, have I been sent a dud (though weight and embroidery are telling)?
@MikeDuguid
@MikeDuguid 10 ай бұрын
I went and had a look back at their website - their own spec for 60L mentions 67x26x18, which multiplies out to 31L..!. Even with the netting and side pockets, this would seem to be in no way a true 60L pack. A quick look at some other manufacturers, Osprey and Deuter, their specs for width, height, depth calculate out as expected, and not undersized.
@NoviceWildCamper
@NoviceWildCamper 10 ай бұрын
It would include front expansion net and side pockets for the litres as well.

@MikeDuguid 10 ай бұрын
I had a look at both osprey and deuter packs of around 60L with both expansion nets and side pockets (and my own existing lightwave 60L pack which is obviously larger) the dimensions of those are much bigger and calculate out to the stated capacity, without including any expansion. I think naturehike are being extremely disingenuous selling this as 60L. It's very similar in size to my 40L UD fastpack, and is a noticeably smaller than a lowe alpine 40L I have

I have a Lowe Alpine, Gregory, Osprey (like the one Luke wears), and several off brands. I use them all for different types of hikes or backpacking trips. Most of the shoulder straps (even on the Osprey like Luke's) is barely over 3 inches. I also have several tents he has reviewed and says they were crap and I've used them for between 10-20 years with no issues. Funny how a majority of ppl can have the same things he is reviewing for so long and never have issues with them. He's a good guy, but sometimes, ppl become arrogant in what they're doing, unfortunately.

@dayoltay the belt can be marginally adjusted but obviously cannot cope with major height differences however they also make a smaller one as an option. The sternum can move fine for most people and to be honest, I know many many people who are 'normal' height and have bought this and love it.
