I have a similar pack and it too had a metal frame and was uncomfortable. I solved this by taking out my frame and copying it with plastic tubing, with wood dowling pushed into the tubes to give it strength. It worked on my pack, the plastic tubing flexes as I walk and the result is that I now have a comfortable bag.

I'm really loving your channel. So much useful information. I'm going to get back into outdoor camping/hiking etc. I'm in Florida quite a bit from Kentucky. My question to you is...how do you protect yourself from snakes besides a firearm? I carry a firearm also and do not want to waste ammo on a snake if I don't have to lol. Just curious because I don't like snakes and Florida has 6 venomous types vs 4 here in Kentucky. Much appreciated if I can get that info and I hope you find a great vehicle soon. Take care!
@Rob_outdoorz5 ай бұрын
@charlesmosley8378 hey thanks. When it comes to snakes, your best defense is to make sure you pay very careful attention to your surroundings. From what I know, most snakes like rattle snakes like to take shelter and hide under the palmettos and in or around fallen trees. Thick tall grass is also something to be careful in because they can easily hide in that stuff. We have coral snakes as well as pygmy rattle snakes, those snake usually don't grow any larger than 12" so watch where you put your backpack down at and if you leave it unattended keep zippers and compartments closed, that'll keep spiders and ticks out as well. Also check before sticking ur hand in you pack if left out. Water moccasins from what I've heard are very aggressive and and will be around the banks of ponds or in wet areas so just walk slow and look on the ground and on low tree branches because they will go up in trees too when in those areas. Hoped this helped. I will be uploading a video on stuff I do for backpacking safety. I also just got a new vehicle so we're back on the road💪🏾

Yeah, a water filter contingent is the way to go right now especially with certain areas experiencing severe droughts which may force you to draw from some mirky sources. I never had luck with the squeeze styles, the slightest bit of sediment will clog it in an instant and time is as valuable as weight out there so I don't want to be spending 30 minutes squeezing for my dear life just to produce 2 liters of water. We got the Guardian, more efficient more thorough filtration. There's videos of it being used in that filthy river in India and people being just fine drinking it. I don't mess around with water, it isn't lightning strikes or animal attacks you should fear out there, its dehydration which is the number one killer out there in the back country.
@Rob_outdoorz5 ай бұрын
The msr filter would be great to have especially in an emergency kit. If you use a sports cap, you can easily back flush the sawyer squeeze. Also you can pre filter. Because the sawyer filter is so small I bring it anyway. I appreciate you commenting and hearing what works for you
