Yes, you can do it if you forget in the airport, but they will charge you. If your stay is under 7 days and you get it stamped at the border there is no charge.

Hi ..we are driving into TJ and then flying from TJ. In your video you stopped at El Chaparral to get you FMM form stamped .. did you do the " by land entry" and if so was that form accepted at the airport to fly too?? Thanks

Yes, we did entry by land and yes it was accepted by the airport. It was also accepted by the random INM agents who stopped us in Colima. Just make sure you get your FMM card stamped and your good.

Glad you, enjoyed the video. They just charge a straight rate per day, it isn't less or more dependent on duration. There are other private lots on the Mexican sides with different rates but I haven't used them. On the CBX side they charge you depending on which lot you use. The closer to the CBX bridge the more expensive

@mattmartinez-o7m if you're a Mexican citizen you don't need a permit in Tijuana, that only applies to foreigners. If you don't have Mexican citizenship you can get the permit at the border or inside the airport (more expensive inside the airport). Technically you have to have Mexican insurance any time your car is in Mexico but if all your going to do is drive and the park it I would suggest maybe only getting it for the first and last day, unless you want full insurance in which case you will need it for the full time in case of theft. That said I have seen plenty of people in Tijuana driving with no car insurance.

Yes it does (SENTRI and TSA Pre Check) and you can register one car for SENTRI included in the original registration, but TSA Pre Check only works in the USA.

The shuttle is included, I felt OK with our car being there, there was a lot of security there.

Is the E parking lot part of the airport parking company or a private lot? does it get filled and close? some reviews say the parking structure at airport proper can be closed to new cars due to no capacity. Also, do you feel the necessity to buy Mexican car theft insurance for your car while its parked on mexican side? ive parked on American side and it was too expensive ($25 a day).

It is an official parking lot, it can get full (I have never been turned away) , you are not required to buy Mexican theft insurance (you do have to have liability insurance to drive in Mexico, I have both), hope that helps.

@@pedrozatravel Thanks. The quote i got on one year of insurance today from MexPro was $400. A little pricey unless you use TJ airport a lot or drive in Mexico a lot. The temptation would be not to buy it for a 12 day trip leaving car in parking lot. A little risky to arrive for a flight and discover there are no spaces. I notice some private parking lots are around airport too. I called one and they said you have to leave the car key.

Correct, if you are a Mexican citizen, have temporary or permanent Mexican residency you don't have to pay the fee, just go right through and show your Mexican documents at the airport.

Very useful video! Do you know if the FMM is still required if I fly into Cancun from TJ? I heard the FMM is no longer required for international flights going in and out of Cancun.

For flights from TJ it is still required to get an FMM, you can get one at the border, at the airport, or online. What I do is get one online and then have them stamp it at the border. Under 7 days and it is free, over 7 days it is 180 days.

They only take pesos, they do have a place at the airport that you can pay with a credit card if you have an international credit card.

Did they assign you a specific parking lot? It sounded like you had a specific one in mind. Does it matter or can I choose any? It also sounds like you pay for your permit if you don't have a Mexican birth certificate right? No matter how long your stay?

There is no assigned spots or documentation at the parking lot. You just find a spot and pay on the way out. You have 20 minutes to leave once you pay.

I think CBX is safer (in the parking lot), but it is half the price on the TJ side. I have never had a problem parking at the TJ airport in their airport. On the TJ side they have security roaming as well. That said I would never leave anything of value in the car on either side.

The airport in TJ is pretty straight forward. In Mexican airports you don't have to remove your shoes at security. Make sure you have your boarding pass plus an official ID ready. Have fun traveling.

Your passport does not matter too much, your FMM card is very important. Technically any foreigner who enters Mexico has to get a FMM (tourist) card, but near the border they don't really enforce it, but if you want to travel by air in Mexico it is a must. They do random checks when you enter and leave the airport.

@@Mr93z32 well, my wife did, I am a dual citizen so I travel to Mexico with my ine card. Technically you have to have a FMM card if you are are a foreigner in Mexico, for any length of stay, but we have never been asked for a FMM in Baja, usually they ask you for the FMM when you travel beyond the the free zone. In this case we were flying and they did ask for the FMM at the airport.

It includes any foreigner, including children. You have to pay in cash, but there are atms in the processing center.

Thanks for the vid! Do you know if I can get my passport stamped on the Otay border entry or do I have to go through SY? Also, I was born in Mexico, but I only have a US passport. My US Passport does say MEXICO on it. Do you know if I would have to pay the fee? I don't have any Mexican documents.

I have not crossed by car into Mexico via Otay but my guess is they would give you a FMM there. To not pay you need at minimum a Mexican birth certificate. You can get that at the Mexican consulate.

@@gerrylara4783 you can make a reservation with CBX on the USA side for $27 a day, but I have never had a problem on the Mexican side, even if long term parking was full I would still just go to the regular lot right by the TJ Airport and that costs 360 mxn (about 20 a day)

You can park right across the street from the airport, but it is more expensive. This video shows long term parking, which is cheaper, but you have to take a shuttle to the airport. There are signs that say they don't guarantee the safety of your vehicle, but there are also guards at the parking lot so I felt the parking lot was secure. We have parked there several times and haven't had any issues.
