5 years later. How did the Sailun Winter Tires do? Well, we had both the Sailun Ice Blazer WST1 and the Sailun Ice Blazer WSL2 tires on 2 different vehicles over the past 4-5 years. In this video we talk about what we liked about the Sailun Winter Tires and if we would purchase them again?

well i have to say im a little surprised and impressed with these tires. the ones on the Tucson did well especially with the amount of driving that we did and the tires on the FIat would have easily lasted another season or two. Pretty great considering the price that we paid for them. We have some newer 'brand name' winter tires on our Tucson now and I really don't know if I think they are as good as the Sailun tires. Thanks for your feedback. I just bought a ram, and I hear the stock wheels are not good in the snow. I think I'll buy the wsl2 wheels. Fairly inexpensive.

I bought the Zeta winter tires in 2018. Used them until 2020 and put around 30 to 40k km on them. Sold the car in late 2020 and tires still looked as new with zero issues. So budget tires do last a good amount of time

Winter tires are a funny type of breed. I had winter tires installed when I had my 2010 Equinox. I had them for eleven years, and when I bought my new Equinox it already had winter tires with the package. So I sold my eleven-year-old tires for $250.00. They still had some good treads, and they were super in the snow. That is what I call good winter tires. I got my money's worth out of them.
@gregtoope
@gregtoope 2 жыл бұрын
That’s crazy long. They do recommend that you replace tires at the 10 year mark no matter how much tread is left. The rubber just starts to break down. But even 10 years would be great. Not many kms driven?

@@gregtoope After eleven years of driving, I had around 120,000 Kms. But we had a Mazda MX5 Mazda speed and a Bounder motor home 32 feet long. So we put mileage on those too. Now I just have a 2019 Equinox with 26,000 Kms. Have a good day, Greg.

I am sure everyone watching will have a different opinion on tires. I purchased new winter tires for my Hyundai this year. They were 'budget friendly' tires. Mounted on rims I supplied, balanced and installed for just under $200. And since it''s a front wheel drive only, I just needed two of them. Brand named Michelins at Canadian Tire were $175 each so the price would likely have been near the same. As long as they work and you're happy, all is good.

i've had 2 sets of WSL2 tires on a mk5 jetta and then a mk7 golf... very happy with them... Probably got 3-4 winters out of each set in SW Ontario, but I was doing a lot of driving then. Averaged about 15K km /winter. Just got another set to put on my daughter's golf. They will likely last 5 winters, as she doesn't drive much as a university student.

I buy brand name winter tires but I can't use them for the third winter. 20k ish per winter. If these also last for two winter for me I would definitely switch to sailuns . It would be much more cost efficient for my situation.

The last tires I purchased almost four years ago were Michelin Cross Climate. Those are all-weather tires and they are good for snow or summer. You don't need an extra set of winter tires when you get Michelin Cross Climate. I paid almost twice as much for a set of those as I usually pay for Michelin all-season tires but they are the best tires I ever had. My next tires will be Michelin Cross Climate and I will pay any price for them. I can't put a price on my own safety. I wouldn't take Chinese tires if they give them to me for free!
@moregankfreeman3409
@moregankfreeman3409 Жыл бұрын
This is false. Even tires that will be a little cheaper dedicated for winter or summer will be better than all seasons. Probably cheaper in the long run as well. Cheaper winter tires>premium all seasons
@MrCROBosanceros
@MrCROBosanceros Жыл бұрын
@@moregankfreeman3409 Yes, I believe that almost any real winter tires will be better for snow or ice than any all-weather tires but I live on the west coast of Canada and our winters are usually mild. We don't get much snow; when we get some, it usually melts quickly, and we have to deal with slush. If you look at some comparisons on KZbin between winter tires and all-weather tires, all-weather tires are almost as good as winter tires and Michelin Cross Climate is definitely one of the best.

This Sailun brand is unknown here in Europe, although we have very mild winters lately i always choose 4season tyres from an A brand but dont buy them at a A brand store but at a kind of online Marketplace for tyres which gives a big financial profit.

In many provinces in Canada you legally need to have winter tires installed. The rubber component on winter tires is very different than all season tires. All season tires start to lose their grip when it gets below +7 celcius. Plus it takes all the additional wear and tear off of your summer/all season tires, which means those will last longer. But if you dont get to cold then all seasons can work well.

I was shopping for Sailun tires in the fall of 2021. Chinese tire prices have gone through the roof. There was a minimal difference in price between those and the Dunlop winter tires I ended up buying. It was only like $50 difference installed. If they were around $150 or so cheaper than the Dunlops, I would've taken the Sailuns. Too bad. There is no real choice now with products in general.

@@keithrichardscorpse1230 I disagree. I had them for one winter so far. No issues. They, performed well in snow and ice and were quiet. Barely any wear. I am happy with them. I am open to trying Sailun when I need new all season tires, but if there is no deal to be had with a tier three tire, I will stay in the tier 2 level.

@@keithrichardscorpse1230 O yes! I can imagine that Chinese tires would be superior! China has a big part in history and contribution to the auto motor sport my god! @@Walkop Wrong. Sailun is a Chinese tire company. Yes, they have factories in China, Vietnam, etc. They have a Canadian office in Brampton, ON CA, and other offices in the world, but they are a Chinese brand. They have other brands too like Rovelo, Road X, Black Hawk, etc.

I dont get this why every one talking in seasons not km. Example i Drive 60 k, a year 30 k summer tires 30 k winter tires. 120K km would be 4 years. Now if i was a light driver and did 30 k km a year 15k summer tires and 15 k winter tires that would be 60k km in 4 years. Now you see if only makes 60k km and i drive more i would get less use out of the tires. About how many km did you get in the 4 years then 5th could have used more but was suggested to be replaced. Then all can tell more by how many km they drive how many years will last also. Thanks.

For me if a tire offers great winter traction but doesn't last as long, I'm ok with that. Because in my opinion I would accept a tire that allows me to go great in the snow even if it wears out sooner than a tire that I can't go for shit and lasts a long. Give me traction over longevity every damn time.

@@gregtoope there is no reason to buy brand new cheap low quality tyre over barely used premium tyre for the same amount of money. My trusted Bridgestones came with the used car I bought, so why it is ok to buy and drive a used car with old tyres but not ok to buy only used tyres? I bought Dunlops for 70eur each with only 0.6mm wear.
@gregtoope
@gregtoope 7 ай бұрын
@@portofino8823 the biggest risk of used tires is the unknown. When you buy new tires, sellers have to adhere to strict federal standards. But when it comes to used tires, that is not the case at all. There are no set guidelines and very few restrictions on selling used tires around the country. That means that not only is it difficult to find some of the obvious issues, but it’s nearly impossible to know the history of the used tires you’re considering. How were they driven in the past? Did the previous owner drive them when under- or over-inflated? Were they used at excessive speeds? Were they properly maintained or ever repaired at a certain point? None of these can be determined when purchasing and all of these can result in a weekend tire that is unsafe.
