Long Term Review. Jimny completes 10000 kms. is it a good car ??

I have bought a jimny too recently when Maruti Suzuki offered discounts in December. My variant is Alpha MT kinetic yellow. I've driven it around 1.6k kms and this is what I feel about this car:- Pros: 1. Very capable off roader. Earlier I was driving 4x2 where sometimes I had to struggle during off roading but off roading in jimny feels way way easier. 2. Compact car. Maneuvering on narrow roads not an issue. 3. Suspension is really good. 4. Body roll over is almost non- existent. 5. Less road presence makes your car look different and with some modifications, people will keep checking out your car. 6. Boot space is adequate. U can put sufficient luggage if u want to go on a trip. 7. Best 4x4 at this price. Cons: 1. Rear seat belt alarm is annoying. 2. Gearbox is stiff initially and may take time to adjust. 3. Stock tyres and the front grill give a bad look to this car imo. Stock tyres are really thin. From the front, car looks like a toy due to this very reason. Upgrade if possible. Side profile of this car looks sexy though. 4. This car feels underpowered. No matter what others say, this car won't compete with many on the highways. This might be a factor to many who like to drive fast. There's a lag in acceleration. 5. Turning radius is a bit more. 6. Cabin space inside is not enough for big bulky guys. If you're bit overweight, your arms will be touching the car door and also to the person sitting alongside you in the front. For skinny guys it's not an issue. Car is tall enough so there's enough space for your head also. 7. Under thigh support is not adequate in the rear seats.

My automatic 5-door Jimny cruises for many 10s of km in 120 kmph. No overtaking lag for me, nothing. Just need to get comfortable with frequently touching 5000 RPM.

Wobbling while braking is related to your front discs and brake pads. If the problem persists, check wheel balancing and alignment. I once faced the issue of wobbling while braking but simple front brake cleaning solved the issue. And mind you, this can happen with any car not just jimny.

Hello Biker Pawar. They will be delivering the new Jimny here from march. Can you tell me if the rear seats can be folded to leave the surface completely flat??? I´ve seen in some videos that doesn´t work properly, do you think it could it be posible in any way?? Thank you from Uruguay.

I had the same steering issue got it rectified with great difficulties 1st alignment correction the steering will tilt towards left then 2nd alignment correction it becomes fine and then steering calibration.

Bilkul bhi nahin. mera automatic hai toh gear shake ka toh koi baat nahin hai. Steering agar brake marne pe shake hota hai toh wo front brakes ka issue hai. Brakes ko polish karoge toh shaking ruk jaayega

Yes Bhai. Dekha hai maine. Main difference is oil change. He went with normal oil while i opted for synthetic oil. That’s why the increase in cost

​@@bikerpawarPlease check the brand. I have been getting synthetic oil filled in my Swift for several years. It costs about 4000 for Mobil and Castrol and this was bought from the service centre only. If that is what you got too, then it would have cost you the same or more for the Jimny. Xplore on Wheel replied to my comments about the price and he said that he bought Ecstar fully synthetic oil for 1700 only. Even I was surprised. But, Ecstar is a brand owned by Suzuki so perhaps it is a cheaper formulation. It is the same brand that makes the windshield washer soap for all Maruti cars. Also, he got his service done at a Nexa service centre, not Arena. I will probably get the oil changed at the second service if my Jimny. If they have Ecstar fully synthetic oil, I will probably get that.

I don't see any improvement in mileage. I am still getting around 13 - 14 if you drive consistently between 80 - 100 kmph.

If you are not into off-road, just go with Nexon, its a good family car but for serious off-roading, Its Jimny for you my friend.

Throttle controller plays with throttle body system and it surely helps in reducing lag. It does have economy mode which can help in improving mileage but will again reduce power.

Jimny will NOT sell good numbers. The car is still overpriced by at least 2.0-2.5L. The interiors remind us of the early 90s or if the commercial vehicles...except the touch screen. There are other mid size SUVs around the same price which provide so much > value for money... Kia, creta, Volkswagen....etc. Agreed that the purpose of Jimmy is incomparable with the quoted cars....but there has to be value for money also. It's an old technology 'K' series Suzuki engine + basic interiors of 90s.....at a price of latest engines and top notch interiors from competition. There's hardly any arm space for the driver and the navigator on either sides... The current pricing of Jimmy will kill the product. . . . It will never see the numbers grow.

In simple words, Jimny is not for everyone. Anyone seeking comfort and value for money, should definitely look at other vehicles but this little monster is special. You can feel that when you are out in the wild..
