Great video! Very informative and helpful to me. I have always been a gear nerd, but at 63, I don’t want to carry all that crap around everywhere I go anymore, so I have been pairing everything down to bare minimum and learning how to do the same job with far less. It is very freeing! You’re right about being able to use You Tube to learn stuff! I have watched and learned so many different things by having this valuable access! Please keep bringing this conrent to us all. Thanks!😊

I practice what I preach, I practice what you preach. I have been doing this for 45 years. Since I was 7 years old. I teach, give classes, seminars. I have so much to say about not just this video, but pretty much all of your videos… you are spot on.. every time… keep up the great work, many people are learning from you. And that is important. I appreciate your efforts. It is meaningful… great job. The only comment I will make about this video is a personal experience I had. I had an injury and septic infection that was so bad , I could not sleep for 15 days.. it almost killed me. But sleep deprivation is devastating. I literally had conversations with floaties in my eyes…. If it wasn’t for my wife I never would have made it. I couldn’t imagine being like that in a survival situation… and I have pushed myself In self created situations both short term and long term.. the topics you all covered are seldom talked about but are absolutely critical.. again great job!!

This kind of video is one of the reasons I appreciate your channel. You are out in the field and doing, and have guests on who have experience in the topic. And all of you are taking the discussion seriously, rather than sitting around a pretty man cave set shilling gear and fear (original term I just invented). Keep going. Thanks.

One question that no one ever asks about survival is. what if you find yourself in a situation beyond your control, where your only option is to bug out to get away from what is happening in your town/city and find a place where you can make a camp away from a populated area where you can do what you can to survive ?

I use the "KZbin University" to learn the skill techniques, then put them to practical use and practice them until I'm comfortable with the way they work (or don't work, as the case may be) in my area. After I've done some work with the skills, and I like how they work for me, I'll add them to my "toolbox". "Skill Acquitition" is a great term for stealin' other people's ideas! Several decades of doin' stupid stuff and payin' the price is another way to learn. (Don't ask me how I know this!🥴)

I have helped others in that situation. During snowmageddon around the DC area we got about 30 inches of snow and no electricity for many people. Went to a friends house who tried to get a little warmth from a fire log but didn’t open the flue so house filled with smoke. They were having trouble starting a small generator in the house. Moved it outside and got it started. I took them a 2 burner stove with spare tanks so they could have some warm meals. I used to buy extra stoves, propane tanks, tents and sleeping bags on clearance for 70% off. I gave away so much of that gear to get people started prepping and to homeless people. I am so glad they had trouble with the generator as running it in the house would have killed them all.

Was in a hurricane in Florida we were without electricity for 2 weeks. Really had a great time. The whole building cooked meals on the grill together. Survival situation only happens when everything else fails. Planning is so you never get into a survival situation. Another example i was stationed in Utah Dugway proving grounds. We got snowed in. No truck could deliver to the class 6 store. So 4 rangers hopped in my S10 blaser. It was a 4x4 with a 305. No heater core. We had to use scrapers. We drove through snow that was so deep i could only see the to of the second marker they double them in the mountains. The MPs told us they wouldn't come to help, but gave me $50 for 5 cases of beer. Only the brave dare. Rangers lead the way . Let's just say the bar never shutdown.

Knowing boundaries are a huge part. Just to know your grit will give you the confidence necessary to keep driving. Personally ive grew up in situations that forced me to test my grit. Ive gone a week and a half on a cumulative of maybe an hour of sleep, gone without food for about 10 days and do to my profession I deal with hypothermia about once a year for the past 10 years. Along with being a competitive fighter for a bit and understanding how to take a beating and still push forward. Have all the knowledge and ability in the world, but a person that can't function in discomfort will always lose.

Honestly I put myself in survival situations on purpose just to test my skills I never expect to get rescued Get your gear Know your gear practice use it but there's nothing like being alone lost and on your own in the deep dark woods when you cant see those things that go bump in the dark and puts every hair on the back of your neck stand straight up wide awake instantly shelter from the elements and animals fire for heat light water purifcation food have the knowledge take the time to learn the skills because it takes everything you got to keep going

Real life survival situations while you are out practicing Can be quite common and those are the one's that happen when you least expect it drop your one and only flashlight in the bottom of a lake while fishing in the dark or break your knife whilst useing it to cLimb up the river bank and falling in getting pulled downstream not knowing when you will be able to touch bottom again as a 100 foot waterfall is getting closer every second ya been there made it out before i went over the waterfall but i never swam so fast and hard in all my life since then either lol Staring at a mountain lion only 30 yards away while she lets out that bloodcurdling scream that will make you back up real slow walk backwards and go back to your truck close all the windows lock the doors and hope that shes not that hungry cause otherwise your just an appetizer oh man i will never forget that ever i dont go back there without a really big stick now
