Depends on the material. If you're rocking a bamboo board you don't want to be doing any hard jumps or ones with a lot of force. If you're rolling with a maple board you can do some harder force tricks but I still wouldn't recommend it because it isn't what it's made for. Honestly, a longer than usual cruiser board is a great mix between wanting a long board and still wanting to do tricks!

Im a pretty new skater, but I always skate with experienced people so I have been taught a lot. When I'm on a long fast downhill I tell myself *I will not fall!* And I plant myself to the board really strong and bend my knees a bit to keep my ankles steady and strong. If you can keep your ankles stable and stay calm you are good. That being said I would not do the run they did yet I have a lot to learn lol

It’s not always about getting better. It’s about getting comfortable and doing the things you like to do. If you want to do a trick... but it doesn’t feel right or you don’t like it, try cruising. Also, not all boards make you good. I use a board by blind, it’s not the best but I love it to death.

I was 33 when when I got my first board. I remember hating it when I first started. I barely touched it the first year. Second year, I started skating 10 minutes to the gym and back. I remember being so excited the first time I did the whole trip without stopping. 5 years later and I'm skating long distance errands just for fun. If I had to credit one thing to accelerating my learning curve, it would be switching to a smaller board. If you can get good on a [dinghy], going back to a bigger board will feel way more controlled.

@@brawndo8726 preach! I bought my first cruiser a couple months ago. First week I skated every day, following months only like once every 3 weeks or so, wasn't enjoying it. But previous month I stayed at my grandparents house for a week, they have a big backyard, paved. So I took my board with me :) I skated like 2 hours every day, now I'm back home & I can cruise at high speeds taking sharp turns without falling or stopping.. it's awesome! This video made me buy a board btw, love it 🤩

honestly, i enjoy cruising more than doing tricks, something about just getting out there and going for a sweet ride on a nice day is so refreshing and fun, especially with friends. If you're on the border about getting a cruiser or not just do it, you won't regret it. Also don't give up if you can't ride it perfectly on the first try, it takes practice. After recently getting one I ride it EVERYWHERE it's so much fun.

The easiest way to look at it is imagine a venn diagram with "cruisers" in the middle between "longboards" on the left and "trick/Popsicle skateboards" on the right. Longboards can be used for cruising or downhill, but they suck at doing what we normally think of as tricks (flips, grinds), if they are able to do them at all (some don't have a tail/nose at all making olies effectively impossible, bigger ones are also heavy). Skateboards should really only be used for one thing: doing tricks. Their hard, small wheels make them bad at cruising if the pavement is rough, but they'll get you to a park or whatever. Cruisers generally have the body style of a skateboard with the wheels/trucks of a longboard potentially. not as good for tricks as a skateboard but its possible, and it's just as good for cruising as a longboard unless you're going downhill maybe.
