I recently learned about and saw a person engrave an image on a painted canvas.. that really interests me.. I was looking at another engraver/cutter and just learned about Longer engravers earlier today. Price is right with the sale.. curious if either the ray 5 or the B1 would engrave nicely on the painted canvas??? And if I went straight with the 30 or 40 watt laser, the power can be turned down to engrave on the canvas?? I am looking to do some e graving and cutting on other material. Thin material. Really.. don’t need to cut anything too thick (can upgrade for that if things go well) thanks a for your reply and time

Yes, both the Ray 5 and the B1 are perfectly suitable for canvas. Power and speed can be adjusted to suit the material on both.

I have the ray5 10w just upgraded to the 850x850. Looking to upgrade the head now. Looking into the options like possibly the 20w or 40w. Their site says “40w for B1” your saying it will work on the ray 5 platform??

The Ray 5 is limited to 20 watts. The big extension is a nice upgrade (I've done it) for large projects. Just a hassle to store!

Hi Roger, greetings from austria. I have a Longer B1 and the one thing 1 hate is the screw for adjusting the z-axis. Now there is no alternative for the B1 but i found a adjustable plate for the Ray 5. Are the screws on the module backside identical? If so, i could order the Ray 5 Adjuster.

No, they are not. I agree with it not being in the best spot to get your fingers on.

Check that eccentrics on rollers is set correctly. Tight, but not so tight that there is resistance when moving. Check belt tension as well. Both of these can contribute to the problems you have described.
