I have not been watching SxS content lately. My machine has been parked, and listed for sale all season (with no interested buyers). But, I know you worked real hard on this video, so when I found a little extra time on KZbin, I decided to watch this one. I really enjoyed it. I become very interested in your success as the rally went on. Some of it was very relatable, like navigating, and not knowing you’ve gone the wrong way, until you see you are riding away from the route. Also, you’re right, it is a lifestyle. It turns out, it’s not for my wife and I. We had a couple really fun seasons with our RZR, and I’m thankful for the experience. But, knowing each ride could be either the cost of fuel, or fuel plus a $1,000 repair / maintenance job sucked the fun out of it for us. We don’t have the same disposable income as we did two years ago. I’ve been diving back into cycling this summer. I can buy a pretty decent new bike every year, for less than the cost of maintaining the RZR. I can get to many of the same places between my pickup truck and my bike. I can’t cover the same distance off road, but I can certainly soak in the scenery. Anyway, thanks again for the documentary, and congratulations on a strong finish.

Hey Ryan. Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I appreciate it. It’s becoming a more and more expensive hobby, that’s a fact. I understand the struggles and the justifications you explain. I think a lot of us have thought about throwing the towel in from time to time. In my case I have a lot more keeping me here because I’ve interconnected my personal and business life heavily with my riding passion. Most my friends and close acquaintances are related to riding. However, I often joke saying I wish I was into hiking. One or two pairs of boots a season and some good outdoor clothing and you are set. Instead we blow thousands of dollars a trip o SXSs like you said lol. I’m incredibly lucky that I have many people Like you viewing and engaging with the content. It helps allow me to keep pursing this lifestyle. I’m very thankful for everyone that takes the time to watch. It’s you guys who allow me to keep doing what I do. I used to mountain bike a ton in my younger years. Cycling in general is an awesome hobby full of great people like the SXS world. There are a lot of amazing things to try and amazing places to explore out there, we can’t do them all. Doesn’t matter how you get there though, as long as you won’t the journey and the destination. Sometimes we do something for a few years and move on, life is all about experiences. Glad you enjoyed the video and I wish you a lot of safe and fun adventures on the bikes. If you ever need a SXS fix you know where to come find it!! Take care man!!

2023 Dacre Rally Registration: www.rallyconnex.com/dacreatvsxs.html I hope you enjoy this wild off-road adventure. This is an amazing event. It’s an incredible challenge and completing it provides a huge sense of accomplishment. Not many people can say they survived “The Longest Day” Do you have what it takes? Check out the video and see. This video is quite a bit different from my usual style and my goal was to expose this awesome event to more enthusiasts. I also wanted to showcase the passion behind the brands within our industry who help support events like this. For those of you who want a little more context, this is by far the biggest video project I have ever done. I made some mistakes and learned a ton creating this "documentary" style video. Trying to prepare for an event like this, coordinate the filming, compete in the event and document it all... well it's a ton of work. I hope you enjoy the end result. I feel it turned out quite well for something that was created with essentially no budget. Nothing was scripted and no shots were planned. What you see is what you get. This is true grassroots. I have been lucky over the years to have so many amazing viewers which has also allowed me to build partnerships with some great brands in our industry. Just like taking part in an event like this is based on teamwork so is being successful on KZbin. Thank you all for continually allowing me to pursue my passions on KZbin, I could not accomplish any of this without all of you. I hope that in the future I can bring you even more large scale video projects. I have some more really good content coming soon! As always, I love to hear from everyone so leave a comment and join in the discussion on KZbin and our other social media accounts. Julian AKA Adrenaline Junkie

Thanks Badalf, I appreciate your thoughtful feedback. You made my day. I’m happy you enjoyed the adventure and sensed our emotions throughout the ride. The stunning scenery just made the experience even better. Off-roading is a pass time time that crosses over with many other activities. We camp, we work on trucks and trailers, we bbq, we enjoy the outdoors, we like bonfires, we enjoy spending time with friends and family and we love exploring new places. That’s only a few of the things we like to do while off-roading. So I think we may have a lot in common with even people who live a seemingly different lifestyle than ours.

Thanks a ton man. It was epic, on so many levels. I try my best to represent our lifestyle and hobby in a respectful, yet entertaining way. Over the years off-roaring has always provided me with the escape I need from reality. It’s my happy place and I’m lucky I get to share it with so many people. I believe in being positive and helping out where I can, in the end things have a way of balancing themselves out. Finishing the event in the designated time was the goal and we achieved it. Finishing first was just a huge bonus but by no means the highlight of the experience. We met a ton of awesome people and created memories we will never forget.

@@AdrenalineJunkieProd Some notes about the Dacre. It was first ran in about 2005 and put together by John Baxter and a couple guys from the Ontario Dual Sport Club. It was done to honor Bob Bergman(an ODSC Member at the time) who had competed in and finished the real Paris-Dakar event that year. They did start near Paris ON and end at the community center in Dacre. The original length of the event was about 800KM and that distance was chosen because it roughly mimicked what just one day of the real P-D race in Africa was like. Keep in mind they do that for 2 weeks straight and have to also do all their maintenance and prep at the end of each day!! It was run by the ODSC the first 2 or 3 times, then Rally-Connex took it over, still starting near Paris ON. Even though it's not supposed to be a race, it kinda went like that for the first few years & the record time was something like 15 hrs? in 2008? by a team consisting of Rome Haloftis(Iron-manned the Baja 1000), John Baxter and Graham McGregor, IIRC.

This looks like a ton of fun. Excellent job putting the video together. I can totally relate to overshooting a track on the GPS, even when you're zoomed in at the max level, sometimes you must drive by a turn to know if you were supposed to take it or not. Also, I can totally relate to getting nauseous if I'm riding shotgun and reading the gps. It doesn't happen if I'm driving though.

@@rzrdaze no doubt man. I have learned over the years that being overly prepared in Motorsports always pays off exponentially. Back when my friends and I used to drift cars a lot, anytime people at the track had serious issues or needed something I’m the guy they would hunt down for random parts, pieces and ideas. I pride myself in being a McGyver and you’ve probably heard me say many times in past videos. I like the challenge of trail side issues. In a twisted way I enjoy the problem solving and having to find a solution with limited time or resources.

Thanks! It’s kind of crazy for me to think back on these long videos. When I first decided to focus on long format content a few years ago I remember reading a lot of comments about people saying they are too long and no one will watch them. Now a few years later I guess the persistence paid off because the long videos are all of my most popular productions. It’s super cool to hear you say you’d like even longer videos. I started making the longs format ride videos because it’s what I wanted to watch. I wanted to sit down and watch a movie type video on a topic I liked. No one was offering that so I figured I’d try filling the void. It’s taken a lot of trial and error but but by bit I’ve been figuring it out. I always push myself to improve from project to project. I’m excited to see what I can come up with in the future. Thanks for all the support, I couldn’t of gotten here without all the support from so many awesome people.

Happy to hear you enjoyed the wild adventure! It was long… very long… lol. I agree, the real victory was finishing the event in its entirety. The place or medal doesn’t really hold the same value as simply being able to say you finished and you survived. As for the edit, Kseniia and I were joking about that when I was finishing up the video. I told her I felt that the Dacre video edit was more of an endurance challenge then the event itself lol 😂
