This is one of the toughest physical endurance records in the world.
Josef Šálek (Czech Republic) decided to take on the mental and physical battle of holding the abdominal plank for the longest time. The time to beat? 9 hours, 30 minutes and one second.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At Guinness World Records we want to show that everyone in the world is the best at something, and we’re here to measure it! Whether you’ve got the stretchiest skin, know the world’s smallest dog or want to create the largest human dominoes chain we want to hear about it.

9,5 + hours plank is just crazy, but what I'm the most surprised about is how capable he was after stopping My personal best was 30 minutes, but after the clock alarmed, I just collapsed in pain... my deltas, rectus abdominis, and both quadriceps were in heavy cramp in the last 3-4 minutes, and after finishing the session I literally wasn't able to move because my whole body was just a massive cramp, and I was laying on the floor, waiting to recover just a bit so yeah, it's even more shocking to see him being able to maintain a normal connection with the world right after he finished it

@lean2260 Жыл бұрын
@@xxdevilx3 practice more than once in a day??
@hunatya3183
@hunatya3183 Жыл бұрын
@@xxdevilx3 In my experience, extensively long plank sessions are more about mental preparation than physical endurance. I know what is extensive is very subjective tho. The key for me were 3 things: -physical preparation: of course you need to plank a lot of times before attempting a 10-20-30+ session, need to have some sort of strenght in your abdomen and shoulders -motivation/goal: if you were to ask me to plank for 15 minutes right now, just for the sake of it, I wouldn't be able to complete that... If you say you give me 10 million dollars if I plank for 30 minutes I'd be able to do it for sure.. you need to have a goal that rewards you better than the planking session hurts you, basically -mental preparation: before you start planking, you need to heavily remind yourself to the breaking point that'll come inevitably at some point... You need to look into the mirror, and tell in your face that "the point will come when I will want to give up, when I will think there are too much time left and it hurts too bad.. but then, I must remember that it's worth it.. I must remember that I want to prove to myself that I can do it" or whatever your goal was And I want to reiterate what the record breaker said in the video: if you accept the fact that pain is naturally part of life, just like a delicious ice cream or the happiness when you see your love, then it'll be much easier to endure the pain There are also some techniques that can help mitigate the pain: the perceived pain is a matter of attention. The more you focus on the pain, the worse it gets. By distracting your sensory organs you can mitigate the perceived pain because your brain will focus on the incoming sign, not on the tension that is put on your muscles and joints. For example: I made a playlist of my favourite youtube videos (3-6 minutes long ones) and I was watching that. Tiktok, youtube shorts or meme compilations are extremely useful in this case because they always provide a fresh audio-visual stimuli, keeping the sensory organs and therefore your attention busy and you put less focus on the pain.

That's awesome! I just started doing planks 6 months ago. I had assumed the world record would have been like 45 minutes or something. My plank PR record is 5 minutes. I'd rather perform a 400 pound squat, or a set of 100+ push ups,or dips. These movements are soo easy compared to a 5 minute plank, for me at least. Ask me to do a plank for over 9 hours, I think I'd rather shoot myself in the foot. This is truly an amazing feat of strength! Absolutely mind blowing. More impressive than climbing Mount Everest!

Just to be very clear to everyone in the comments seems to be a lot of confusion. There are many techniques to this, including shifting the actual levers in your body to tense or contract Other muscles at alternating interviews. So that your other muscles can replenish their glucose secondary. The plank position is actually primarily a result of your fascia strength as opposed to your muscle strength

I genuinely can't even imagine doing a plank for longer than 10 minutes as being humanly possible, like for me if I did a plank for 11 minutes I would feel like I was this guy 😂I mean the mental strength of this old guy is crazy, literally shows you no matter who you are and how you're shaped or whatever, you're capable of so much more than you think

Not trying to take away from these amazing feats of endurance, but shouldn't it not be allowed to use any of those arm bands to help stabilize joints like this contender and the second contender did? The first record holder didn't use anything on their arms or legs other than a wrist watch.

I personally don’t find any issue with it, assuming there wasn’t a rule against it beforehand. Sport science has improved over the years. Mark Spitz swam with no goggles long hair and unshaven with atrocious form. Now we have special suits that take away resistance. He would be so much better in this day and age. But that’s also what was messed up several years ago, when there was a certain type of suit swimmers were able to use for a period that eventually got banned. If that was the case here, but in reverse, then I would be against it 100%. I know that it’s not exactly the same but the principles are. If the rules never forbade it then it should be allowed. That’s how I feel at least 🙂

Tremendous respect for the Czech record holder. The Australian record was tainted with with doping allegations conveniently ignored by GWR. GWR needs to change their narrative to reflect the current WR for longest plank EVER is 10:10:10 set in June 2018 by George Hood and certified by Assist World Records . The coverage from FOX News further corroborated the record and it still stands.
