For any really soft/loose polygel, if you stick it in the fridge or even a cup of ice water, it’ll make it a bit more firm for a little while until it comes back up to room temperature so you get some more time to work with it Edit: I just got to the end where you mentioned that haha I always use Makartt cause I like the firmness but I had some polygels when I first started that were really soft but I didn’t wanna waste it

If you want some super basic advice for a nail that’s lifted like that from an og of loosing fingernails (and toenails) bc of trauma and accidents; #1 get a cushiony bandaid but cut the sides off (length wise) if it has adhesive stuff on the sides. Also make sure the bandage part is big enough that no adhesive stuff from the sides of the bandage part, stick to your nail. You may loose the nail or it may grow out, but either way you want to keep that nail on as long as possible. It will protect the bed which is more comfortable plus you always want to keep from doing damage to the bed. (my mom got her finger torn up as a child and her nail bed got damaged, she never had her nail grow back correctly. It was all gnarled like tree bark, very funky.) So the cushiony bandage protects your nail from being knocked and pulled, and your nail bed from further damage. And by making sure you don’t let any of the sticky part of the bandage touch your nail, when you change it, you won’t be pulling on your nail. (My 1st damaged nail at 5 was ripped off bc my grandma taped it down and it pulled off when she got some bandaids and took the tape off.) Hope this helps!

I stumped my toe once & a few days later the whole nail fell off! I FREAKED OUT! Then went online to see what would happen but didn't really get any satisfactory answers. Anyway, it ended up taking approx ONE WHOLE YEAR to grow back. I'm in Miami Florida, so sandals/open toe shoes are pretty regular. But i was so embarrassed i couldn't wear open toe shoes for a WHOLE YEAR! Long story short, your nail will take a minute to grow back. But it will grow back. And recently i saw a KZbin vid showing how they made a toenail w/acrylic or polygel.. So it's possible to cover it while you wait... Also, you made me get into doing my own nails. I love it. It's so fun but i'm still in the 5-6 hour phase of just finishing one hand. And i was only comfortable using dual forms, but in the last few weeks, i've done 3 nails with the paper forms! One day, i'll graduate to trying acrylic. Can't wait! Also, i'll forever love your intro/outro "long hair pretty nails show" LOL

I got a set with polygel about a year back where the slip solution spilled out on me, so I was trying to figure out what I could use when I didn't have what came in the kit. Isopropyl Alchohol is what rubbing alcohol is made of, but for it to be a good slip solution with polygel, it needs to be 70% or higher. My supermarket rubbing alchohol wasn't strong enough, so I ended up going to a hardware store and getting a 99% bottle there. It was also way cheaper at the hardware store than what my supermarket offered. Aaaaand I also use it to clean my glasses, clean things in my computer, it doesn't leave any residue, and cleaning other things that need to have a no residue drying.

I purchased a kit and I used the paper forms instead of the nail forms since I have very short nails. I love it and I am saving a lot of money
