I didn't think I'd like anything more than the Sector watch, but the Tuxedo does appeal to me personally. The dial is beautiful, but what sets me apart is the shape of the case. Absolutely love it! To really elevate the impact, I would love to replace the leather strap with a black alligator one (I have a Longines alligator strap on my Flagship and have fallen in love with the feel compared to leather). I'd love to have both this AND the Silver Arrow!

This thing is frickin' ɢᴏʀɢᴇᴏᴜs! Ahh, those dimensions? ᴘᴇʀғᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ. The colours, the font, the crystal, the crown - all of it! Magnificent. If only I went to enough formal, even semi formal events... Longines are really kicking it up a notch with their Heritage re-issues. And really making themselves ᴛʜᴇ option in the market that sits a little below Tudor, Nomos etc., and little above Tissot, mid range Seiko, Certina, Junghans etc. This is their 4th or 5th release in the last 12 months that I've ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ liked. It's good to see and they have the back catalogue to keep pumping them out. Thanks. Great watch, great review.

I tried this on and think it would be fine as a non dress watch actually, maybe it’s because of the dial colours, it’s not particularly shiny.

Amazing value too for what you're getting (inhouse movement/Heritage Brand/Stunning looks) Love it.....although a hard call between this and the Sector Dial. Btw if you gonna check the timing, the microphone is not on the moving part, but instead the static steel part. And you HAVE to put the CROWN of ANY watch against the steel microphone of the timegrapher, which the crown is an extension part of the movement. If not, like the way you put it in this video and several others, you may anticipate having a low amplitude and high beat error and incorrect readings especially if you put the case against the microphone, as some watch may have a thick caseband or held by a thick movement ring.

Nice watch but as usual with the Longines Heritage range the lug to lug is very long. The chronograph version of this is very cool but my favouritist Longines would be the sector dial, shorter lug to lug at 47mm!

Nice. Torn one these vs the Sector. I prefer the Sector too, but these have a very cool case/lug shape. I mean seriously, these Heritage Longines are vintage Holy Trinity quality designs. But better, 'cos they're steel and can be serviced easily! But yes, as with many Longines beware the lug length! A negative byproduct of scaling up vintage watches while maintaining their classic proportions. Does seem odd, as every Longines review and many comments criticise this. Longines not alone tho: IWC, Fortis also guilty.
@EscapementWatch3 жыл бұрын
Yes so true. however the lugs are so thin they can get away with it in some cases. This being one of them.

Long lug to lug is identity of Longines. Most of all their watches have long lug to lug, even for small diameter watches. It's disappointing, but they keep doing it all the time.

A great review! Now I have a dilemma to add another piece to my watch 'watch list'. I love both the Longines Heritage Tuxedo and the Sector versions. Both fantastic time pieces. A difficult decision as there can only be one.
@jorgeespinoza44463 жыл бұрын
Which one do you got?
@anthonystevens86833 жыл бұрын
@@jorgeespinoza4446 On this occasion it was the Tuxedo, brilliant polishing along the case and that classic 1920's Art-Deco look just did it for me. The lug to lug is long but the lugs drape down around the wrist so the fit is perfect on my 7" wrist. It was a very close call though. If you can, try them both at an AD or reseller and see which one looks and feels right. In the case of these two in my opinion you could flip a coin to decide, both look great and if I recall correctly share the same movement.

Funny thing about this pair, last year a got the three hand tuxedo for my birthday ,my birthday is in October and I couldn't get it until early December due to availability, and then I was supposed to get the chronograph for my birthday this year in October, but got this one a couple months before thanks to a great deal. Why does Longines always f up their l2l distance. Legend diver could have been such a masterpiece..
@EscapementWatch3 жыл бұрын
Because when they reissue vintage models and upscale it for modern times they want to keep the originals proportions. It's a natural by product of making a 34 35mm into a 38.5

Yes but it is important to realize the lugs are thin very thin and elegant. They don't have a huge visual impact like a normal traditional watch Lugs like say a sarb033 has.
@Andrew.W753 жыл бұрын
I would add it is part of the design of the watch, if the lug to lug was 45mm, it might look short & stubby. I think the issue is that Longines has scaled up the original designs, if they reissued these watches at nearer to their original size, there wouldn't be a problem

I tried this on at the AD but the long lug-to-lug was a dealbreaker. Had it fit better on my 6.5-inch wrist, I would have purchased it on the spot! Now that I type this, I am rethinking it. Hrm...

I think it wears great for 6.5in but wouldn't recommend for smaller. And also camera always makes it look bigger on these close wrist shots.
@anthonysmith29823 жыл бұрын
That is a long lug to lug length if you have smaller wrists. I have larger wrists and prefer smaller watches, so for me it's the best of both worlds. Smaller diameter and wrist presence from length. There is no reason watch companies couldn't use the same principle with a 36mm watch. I think 36mm X 47mm would look fantastic.
@MrJamesDuffy3 жыл бұрын
@@anthonysmith2982 It sounds like it would be perfect for you but I would recommend handling it in-person first. When I tried it on, the case diameter was great and the dial design helped the watch wear smaller. However, that only made the lug-to-lug seem disproportionately longer. (Think NOMOS Campus Club or Hamilton Khaki Field 38.)
@anthonysmith29823 жыл бұрын
@@MrJamesDuffy Thanks. Unfortunately it's not something that I would wear often enough to warrant buying. As much as I love the watch, it's a little formal for the way I dress... And black tie events? Not even one a year...unfortunately! My comments were in regard to my love of the specs. I have a few vintage skin-divers that come in at around 36mm X 47mm (ish) and I have a 38mm Hammy Khaki Mech. So I can sort've scale that up in my mind to the ~39mm X 50mm of this piece. Thanks for the heads up on the general idea of how it would wear though. ✌🏼️ Jeez Longines are killing it atm, yeah?
