I want to believe that sergeant, but there's been too many times watching a sergeant say one thing and doing another, plus a concerns me that his officers doesn't know what reasonable articulate suspicion is, which means these officers are detaining people for no reason whatsoever.

@andydouglass13742 жыл бұрын
To be fair, I think he was nitpicking over the "articulable" part just to be argumentative (like the shoe lace thing), since many jurisdictions and case law just use "reasonable suspicion" such as the landmark Terry v. Ohio case which is arguably the most important case law pertaining to police contacts and detainment. I personally think that "articulable" is clumsy and redundant when used in conjunction with reasonable in the context of law enforcement.

You can see this in Sean’s home county of Suffolk and it is slowly but most surely effecting a positive change. Thank you Sean.

It depends on how the officers and department receive the interaction. This is why I think what he's doing is important. There can be officers or departments that completely write him off and think he's a joke or get mad at him and these are the bad apples that need to be brought into the light.

It's so unprofessional when cops call citizens dude, "my man", or bro. Are we performing as professional law enforcement officers or doing keg stands at a frat party?
@alecharvey423 жыл бұрын
So I partially agree, but think about it this way too. Sometimes that can be a way to de-escalate in a sense or get the person to be more opened minded to opening up to the officer. It's phycology. Now yes that may not work in every case because of age or other variables.(example: a cop may have a easier time getting a 25 year old to open up during an encounter by saying "what's going on my man?" And playing buddy buddy then they may have if they said "what's up my man" instead of "sir" to a 50-60 year old person yuh know? I'm not trying to argue here. I'm just saying with something that small, may seem unprofessional to some but may actually help them build rapport with others. And that all just comes down to their judgement.
