Ralph--With you all the way! The photography was AMAZING for one thing--an aura of darkness pervaded every single frame. Tension--everywhere. Even at the start, where Harker and the young FBI guy were canvassing that neighborhood. The film hadn't even started moving yet, and still, there was a "weight" everywhere--that "dread" you mentioned--even in the damn briefing room! This wasn't something you can classify easily as "horror," "crime-drama," or even into a discernible sub-genre I think. Definitely a stand-alone film, driven by a distinctive, and crucially--ORIGINAL--creative vision, something that we haven't seen out of Hollywood in what feels like centuries, except coming from indie shops like Neon and A24, which are really killing it, especially in horror. Saw it on Saturday in Deptford, NJ at a 12:15 show and the place was packed solid--haven't seen that in years. People are tired with Marvel/Disney, the destruction of "Star Wars," and franchise revivals, though "The First Omen" was a standout in this regard, since it had more to it. Thus far, some pretty good flicks this year--the Hugh Grant "Heretic" looks fascinating, and of course, "Nosferatu" at Christmas, though I fear (as another version of the Dracula story) they may be hanging the movie on the beauty of the picture and FX perhaps, though it's early in the game--just a hunch. And by all means--a Deep Dive on "Longlegs" would be awesome! Were you aware of the "lore" website that was part of the marketing campaign? I looked at it last night: thebirthdaymurders.net. "Crime Scene" stills, decoding of the letters, info on other killings, etc.--supposed to be a "website" put together by one of those true crime fans from the early '90s. Even has the look of an old-school website. I think there's another site (also marketing connected) which is far eerier, but you'd have to Google the URL. Great job on the content!

I actually like the movie. Started off slow but turn out to be a great movie. Nicolas Freaking Case did it again and Blair Underwood who has been underestimate in his career. For some reason, they love doing some type of satanic things in small town in the middle of nowhere with very little population in the town.
