I just got back from watching it a second time and a cool detail is that ruby has the same hairstyle as lee did when she was little. Ruby shirt is also the small house and tree that resembles Lee house in the beginning of the movie 👏🏽🔥

Love how much time you've devoted to breaking this down really great videos. Can you please explain in your next video why you think Lee was even chosen by Longlegs in the first place??? It appears that she was not part of a typical nuclear family so it would've just been her and her mother who died (instead of the father killing them and then himself) if things went according to Longlegs plan. That means it would've been different from allll of the other murders. It doesn't appear that Lee and her mother knew Longlegs during the first encounter flashback (or atleast didn't recognize him) I saw other theories before seeing the movie and people were guessing Longlegs may have been Lee's father but it just doesn't seem like it. I just can't seem to find any explanation of this detail - did I miss something???

@@CantaloupeWithLegs52 I was thinking the same thing!!! Why he chose them considering there was no father. That’s one of the holes I wish got explained. I also wanna know what he did for those 10 years he wasn’t killing. Also wanna know what was going through Carrie Anne’s mind when Harker visited her. Why she was so delighted to see Longlegs.. I’m taking it she was just a follower of his ever since he put her in “the dark” in the flashback, which was also completely different than any of the other kids, but then why just have her character end up in a hospital? I know she ended up not being there when her doll got there so she wasn’t killed, but everything after that kinda loses me as well.

Fun fact: Maika took inspiration from Rooney Mara's performance in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for Lee's character. Apparently she took inspiration from Silence of the Lambs as a whole, not specifically Jodie Foster's character.

They played up a lot about her being psychic with the testing part, so I figured some of it was basically like she was like Will Graham in Hannibal/Manhunter being able to sometimes see what happened or would happen from just looking at stuff having to do with the crime.

@@anthonythebold1161 I think how they centered on her being a psychic- showing the psychology of that with harker as far as the negative outcomes was great, but I think her being brought into the story aside from her past was just the lamest thing lol. The story is fantastic once she is involved, but as far as how and why she got involved in the first place is one of the issues I have with the film.
@chainesansnom4449

@PragmaticAddict I agree with the other comment, I think it's pretty clear throughout the movie shots and angles that she's being watched and that her becoming an FBI agent was part of the devilish plan. They did say that the dolls made daughters forget what the devil wants them to forget, but also know what the devil wants them to know. The FBI notices she has uncanny abilities, which they attribute to being psychic, while really it's just her having a tight link with the supernatural due to her childhood and getting led by the devil. At least that's my take on it, and as the other person said, Lee says it's like someone tapping her shoulder. And then Longlegs tells her "We had a laugh when you became an FBI agent at 20". She's being watched and led on the whole time. This specific tragic aspect reminded me of Hereditary (just being watched and doomed since the beginning by greater forces out of your control).

I absolutely loved everything about this film. I love how it is open for interpretation. I felt he represented more than just a human, similar to an anti-christ type figure. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I loved the way this movie was paced. I have adhd and it had so many styles and ideas going on so I was never bored 😆 I feel like this movie works on a lot of levels too. Like you can look at this movie completely literally but you can also look at it symbolically or just enjoy the imagery, music and vibes. I really liked the use of dolls in the story. I feel like that part was the most heavily symbolic of trauma and it was super unnerving. The whole way they made the movie was geared to making someone uncomfortable..the colors, sounds, camerawork. I can’t stop thinking about this movie it was so cool!

All i gotta say the trailers and the actual movie were 2 different things. Trailer promised a really dark disturbing satanic atmosphere. While the movie did not deliver. nic cage’s appearance especially his face was not terrifying like they made it out to be idk why they kept blocking his face in the trailers. no big reveal like i said. And misleading scenes from the trailers. like in the heartbeat preview where shes talking to cage . Shes not unsettled by his face like they show in the trailer. Shes unsettled talking to him. They pulled a suicide squad 2016 on us imo. the satanic aspect was put to waste also. wasted potential
