Then it was way over-hated by a certain segment of movie goer once it didn’t meet meteoric expectations. I liked it a lot. I would say it’s actually an excellent film even with its flaws. Longlegs stands proudly just off of its beautiful, atmospheric cinematography. I felt the story falls through during the latter half when Cage turns himself in, it honestly kind of confused me as to why they’d remove any type of real physical danger the protagonist was in. I wonder if the Satan of this movie isn’t Lucifer/the Devil but the ancient Canaanite deity, Moloch god of Human Sacrifice (specifically child sacrifice). “You must not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the lord” - Leviticus 18:21 “I will set my face against that man and I will cut him off from his people; for by giving his children to Molech, he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name” - Leviticus 20:3 The word Satan in Hebrew meant accuser or adversary. Moloch or Molech is usually depicted as having the head of a bull.

With regards to the Jon Benet murder I truly believe it was the younger brother. They found pineapple in her system and concluded she ate it just minutes before death. According to family friends Jon Benet and her brother often snuck downstairs late at night to have a snack and it was commonly food like pineapple. However the mother also revealed that the siblings would sometimes fight and Benet would sometimes try to steal his snack. Given the short window of time when she had the snack & died - I think she took his snack and in a rage he smashed her over the head with a bat. Coincidentally a bat was missing from the house and the family could never explain why it was missing. Police specifically found this odd since the damage to her skull behind her head matches an object like a bat. However the reason I believe it was the brother is the overwhelming evidence and bizarre coincidences surrounding the murder. For starters it would explain why the family panicked and faked that ransom letter. They didn’t want the bother going to jail for life. They just lost one child and were gonna do anything in their power to save the other one. The ransom letter never made any sense. Not only would a stranger had to of broken into the house, but he would have been hiding there for an hour plus (long enough to write that lengthy letter). But if he already killed the girl in the basement then why leave the letter? Also the ransom note had financial information only the father would know and was sloppily written. While recent hand experts have ruled out the wife, many experts disagree. And the recent expert only ruled it out because they thought it was unlikely. It wasn’t really based on solid forensic evidence. Interestingly the brother had a history of violence against the sister. Whether it was a slap or a shove. But family and friends reported his aggression was getting worse as they got older. After the murder the brother started smearing his own feces on the wall and would pee all over his room. This is actually common when a child goes through something traumatic. Finally watch the interrogation tapes of the brother. He’s gets aggressive and perks up when pineapple is mentioned. Only when they bring up the late night snack does he have a freak out. It’s so bizarre. Lastly it was revealed recently that a grand jury actually voted to indict the brother based on evidence the DA presented. However this indictment is as kept sealed and the DA decided to not pursue the brother which kept this unknown to the public for years. The father of Jon Benet was not only close with the DA/ police he personally helped fund their election. So the theory is that he got favors pulled to get them to drop the case against their son. But if you just step back and look at the entire case - the family did everything in their power to impede the investigation. They waited hours to call the police over. And the father was allowed to explore the entire house while police were gathering evidence. He then magically stumbled upon the body? All of it is odd and feels wrong.

Part of me hopes there’s a big enough demand for a Longlegs prequel following Longlegs himself before he went completely off the deep end (ala Ti West’s ‘Pearl’). I mean going to the KZbin upload of ‘Fire Fire Fire, Hiss’, the last recording of Longlegs before he went fully insane, majority of the comments are people begging for a prequel. I love Longlegs so much and I’m so anxious to see if there will ever be any more content relating to it.

Don't try and wash away every criticism of this movie as being from people who aren't into eccentric horror movies, because that's laughably false. Eccentric horror movies are my favourite genre of movie, this movie bored me to death. The plot went nowhere, they had their foot half in the door with both the supernatural and detective elements and didn't go anywhere with either. A lot of people just didn't like the movie, for a lot of very valid reasons.
@madeofmeatsКүн бұрын
@@asdasdae I mean the plot makes sense to me, it took a second watch but I was intrigued enough by the film to go back in. I think this genuinely is a case of “you just don’t get it” because most people want straight forward spoon fed stories and don’t wanna do any extra heavy lifting, thus they won’t watch the film again and pick up on things they missed the first time. Sure I’m biased and kind of snooty about this sort of thing but what else am I supposed to think when majority of people’s criticisms are things that are addressed by the film itself and make sense if you watch the film on its own terms.

It’s a C+ script with A+ direction. I liked Nic Cage & Longlegs but the ending was mediocre. I don’t think it being called “This generations Silence of the Lambs” helped me enjoy it either

imo the story was good i just don't liike how it was told at the end. the idea of the dolls eventually driving the father's to kill the families was a cool idea and i liked it. (sorry if i got it wrong i only watched once when it came out)

yeah my partner and i had high expectations for it seeing it being compared to silence of the lambs, se7en etc. we love original and eccentric films so we were really interested to see what this film would do - and it seemed SO promising at the beginning, but by the end yeah the script felt really tired and poorly executed. my partner was so excited to see it in theaters and he talked his sister into also joining us and when the end credits started rolling he turned to us and was like "...i am so sorry" lol

This film is hot garbage. Actually the worst movie I've seen in ages! [A 2-star movie until that stupid as ending] For most of the runtime, I was engaged with it despite it spinning it's wheels for so long. The whole time I was thinking "yeah it's boring and nothing meaningful is happening, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt coz it looks nice and is acted well, as long as it sticks the landing". But the final third was so offensively terrible to me, I couldn't wait for it to be over. This has peak "B-movie on Amazon Prime that you feel angry for watching all the way through coz you'll never get that time back" energy. Surprisingly not pretentious, but my goodness, do not believe the hype. (btw I haven't actually seen that much hype around it, just that we've been selling out numerous screenings for it and all the KZbin review thumbnails saying "SCARIEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!??") Not scary at all, but that might just be a personal thing. If this is the way "elevated horror" is heading, give me a fun slasher movie ANY day over this dribble.

Bro thank you. I feel like I'm the only one who hates this movie. Any interesting elements this movie had was shot in the foot by Cage's performance. The movie seems like it was just a reason for Cage to act like an idiot for 40 minutes. The SECOND I saw his name as a producer I knew I was gonna be in for a bad time.

Dude I love your content but please change the thumbnail or at least cover the top side of his face, one of the best things about the movie is that they obscured his face for most of it so it's a horrible surprise when it eventually does happen. Nicolas Cage has said this himself, that he loves how the movie doesn't give it away too fast. And I know since you like Nic Cage that you wouldn't want to disappoint him like this. Using Longlegs face as the thumbnail is really counterintuitive to what both the director and Cage wanted. Just put a black border over it or something 👍

Calling him long legs has nothing to do with him having long legs. It’s an expression adults use when speaking to children because adults are taller than children. “Guess I’m wearing my long legs today” if you’re going to be around children. It may be unfamiliar to some, but it’s definitely an expression widely used.

scary movie based on Satan as defined in Christianity is just not scary because it has the up hill battle of not only establishing the story to the audience to suspense our disbelief but also for us to willingly extend our belief to accommodate that there is such a thing as the ultimate truth called God (and that truth is written on a book claimed as holy by an institution that claims to be the representative of such Truth on Earth yet somehow resulted in different denominations and teachings and not to mention less than elegant allegations against the staff, as well as a less than perfect track records throughout history being related to violent incidents, wars and power struggle within governments and monarchs).
@ErikaCartet15 сағат бұрын
especially when the movie couples satanism with stuff like glam rock through the character of longlegs... ooooh!!! rock and roll is peddling satanism to the youth!!!! you can't make satanic panic scary i'm sorry all it does is expose how oppressive and insidious christianity is. the character and force of satan being a real evil in this film doesn't work. you can't have evil preying on vulnerable girls in the form of the devil when christianity already regularly takes advantage of girls and forces them to conform in truly awful ways, it just feels disingenuous. they should have leaned more into the actual institution of religion being bad - felt like they MAYBE wanted it to be a theme by having the "nun entering home because of a trust in religious authority actually presents you with evil" thing but the film wasn't nearly cohesive or fleshed out enough to execute on that

I absolutely loved this movie. With horror being my favorite genre, I understand why horror fans were a bit disappointed in it. All in all, the atmosphere was great, the world-building was great, the acting was great, it had a good pacing, and it has a kind of "cult film" feel to it. I think it's a great movie, and nobody can convince me otherwise.

About the Ramsey Case, it's widely accepted that her brother killed her and that the parents covered for him. He once hit her with a golf club hard enough to send her to the ER months earlier in a fit of jealousy, because the mom focused almost exclusively on her and her pageantry and neglected the son. She also had non-digested pineapple pieces in her stomach, the same pineapple that Burke made himself a snack of, still in a bowl on the kitchen table, meaning she died moments after when only she and him were together... BTW, the DNA on her underwear was transferred DNA and can be ignored. Unfortunately, there isn't enough evidence to prosecute Burke, but everything, while circumstantial, points to him being the culprit. And decades later, neither Burke or the dad (the mother having since died) want anything to do with the case, not at all interested in finding out who this mysterious intruder/ransomer is, and bring him or her to justice for the sake of JonBenet. That's insanely telling... I've seen parents hunting for answers their ENTIRE LIFE, wanting to find closure and justice, often going to their grave still having never known the truth and it's the saddest thing. But them? They don't care, because they KNOW everything already.
