All of these stupid PG-13 “horror” movies follow the same formula: Group of teens do something stupid to get them in the cursed situation. One dies and they’re upset, but don’t tie it to the dumb thing they did. Another dies and they realize what’s happening. Somehow they discover someone else had this happen to them a long time ago and so they go visit this person in their creepy old house, insane asylum, library, etc. One more of the teens dies, but they all discover how to defeat the evil. Final girl defeats the evil………BUT REALLY DOESN’T!!!

I'm so sick of people using Satanism and Satan as a bad thing. Being evil to us is just a concept that we created and just like Satan, his evil means absolutely nothing, our evil is insignificant!! compared to the vast indifference of the Infinite Universe and the Waiting Room, all forms and concepts become meaningless in the face of unyielding Omnipotence. Power that transcends the very Concepts that give us meaning, the very Archetypes that allow Reality to form and shape itself. Power that's beyond the Concept of Incomprehensible, a vast power, that exceeds the Transdimensional and Trans-Archetypal boundaries of the End of Existence, surpasses every Vortex, Transcends even the very first layer of the New Universe. A power that isn't confined by any bridges of Fancy or Mathematics. We think are absolutely true and powerful, we think that our emotions and spirit and being is able to do all and be all. But we couldn't be any smaller and more insignificant. We are nothing in the face of the Absolute, the All In One. Yogg'Sothoth!!!! And it is indifferent to us.

As someone who has a passing knowledge of how to read tarot cards, the movie would have been 100 times more interesting (not better, just interesting) if it actually respected and followed the actual meaning of the cards rather than "Hanged Man = hanging, Magician = magic show".
@ixiepeach67875 ай бұрын
What were the actual meanings?
@Sisren865 ай бұрын
@@ixiepeach6787 For the two I mentioned, The Hanged Man represents wisdom or knowledge of a situation that you have willingly placed yourself in, almost like a personal challenge. The man traditionally is hanging by one foot, with the other free, symbolizing that he is half free and that his situation is one he has chosen to be in. In practical terms, think of it like...going for a promotion. Inverted cards usually (not always) mean the opposite...so for Hanged Man, basically being in over your head in a situation. The Magician or Magus stands for resourcefulness and inspiration. Manifesting an outcome. So like...the first day of that new promotion the Hanged Man represented, getting the chance to prove you have what it takes. Inverted Magician is again the opposite...poor planning and manipulation rather than being deserving of what you were given. Coincidentally, I had no intention of picking two cards that were so closely related. Its almost as if...it was supposed to happen. Oooooooooo.
@NightCityDrift5 ай бұрын
I don't disagree but I think the idea in the movie is that whichever is your final card will manifest in various ways leading to your death which will come at the hands of a shape shifting spirit who takes on the literal forms and traits of the creatures depicted on the cards. So the film tries to mix the two a bit but really just leans on bringing the artwork to life.

The two things that stood out about this movie to me are: 1) the main group had zero chemistry. Right from the campfire scene at the beginning, it felt like a bunch of strangers reading lines right off the page. Even when they talk about things that happened before the movie starts, like Hailey and Grant's previous relationship, I just don't believe any of it. 2) it felt like the writers forgot things they had the characters say and do from scene to scene. Like how after the characters start to figure out what's going on, they all agree to go to find the old woman who had some answers about how to stop it. Then, in one of the following scenes, Paxton suddenly disagrees with that plan and decides to go home, despite everyone else reminding him that if he leaves, he will likely die, based on his Tarot reading, which he seemed to understand up until that scene. It completely felt like there were multiple writers who didn't fully know what the other writers were writing.

In DnD, there is an item called the Deck of Many Things. Its similar to tarot cards, but they are magic so the card you draw has a real impact. Like one card will transport your character to a extradimensional prison and leave you in suspended animation until the rest of players find you. Another card could give you 50,000 gold, while a different card could rip your soul out of your body and put it into a random object. Basically, do not pull cards from this deck. There is an entire supplemental book based around this one magic item that adds more story telling potential to said cards outside of just changing your characters alignment or some random devil wanting you dead for reasons. However, this is really dumb. It would have made more sense if the characters were just messing around and used a set of tarot cards that they didn't know were cursed or something. Or they pissed off a witch.

"Maybe the guy who was holding the boom mic made a joke" *squash squash squash* "The Evil Lamp Barer" "He's an earth sign! They found him in the DIRTY" "It's better if you fight the urge to run" *She runs away* "The demon uses Madaline's dead body as a tea bag" "Tod" I laughed so hard watching this video 😂

I have to admit that from what I've seen, the monster designs and directing are pretty well done, even if the writing is kinda dumb

Despite all of its silliness, the kills and monster designs are really cool. The magician one actually creeped me out

In terms of ouija board horror I'm still genuinely shocked how good Origin of Evil is, although I shouldn't because Mike Flanigan is the goat

I love how every new horror movie has the characters doing quick research on the internet and often finds the exact same thing happened to other people. It's really funny

It was a fun movie. You shouldn’t think much into it, but I laughed out loud when the police told the group that nothing was amiss with their friend’s death. I guess getting repeatedly bashed to death by ladder is a normal occurrence lol.

Really such a small detail, but if the Magician had killed the woman by sawing her in half, but then put her back together, that scene could have been much more scary.

Hey now, CandyLand is absolutely TERRIFYING! I mean, you've never been a few spaces until the end when you rolled a 3, hit a slide, and went back to space #11??? Oh wait...thats Chutes and Ladders, not Candyland...Ehh, theyre both the same 😂

I saw this and was genuinely into the plot. I loved the idea of these cursed tarot cards….but the rest of the movie just failed hard. Although I’m a sucker for cheap scares, and leading up to the first kill did have me jumping a little bit 😅
