My dad was in the Army and used to travel on the ‘Borden Bullet’! Gordon is now on the Severn Valley Railway.

also worth noting that the Great St Trinians Train Robbery chase scene was filmed here

I used to live on Longmoor camp (7 Union Rise) 1966/68 as a boy, i often travelled to school in Liss on a steam train called "The Bullet", does anyone have any pictures of this train as i have searched but cannot find any, thanks in advance.

bruce anderson we lived there 52-7 Wilton Quarters then Pretoria Close. 1961-66 again in Pretoria close. I think the 'bullet' was just a generic name and not a particular train. We always went to school by bus to Liss then Petersfield

I think that it is time for someone to reopen the Longmoor Military Railway as the first community run heritage steam railway and Transatlantic Open Air Military Railway Museum reuniting all the preserved locomotives that resided at Longmoor including the repatriation of J94 Errol Lonsdale from Belgium and WD 2-10-0 Longmoor from Holland as a project for the National Railway Museum in York and other worldwide railway organisations in America, Belgium, Holland and France.

The fact that Gordon being named that is just a coincidence

I think that it is time for someone to reopen the Longmoor Military Railway as an operational Heritage Railway.

This was originally planned, which is why so many preserved locos started their preservation life at longmoor. But residents objected and that was it. Can't do it now, a lot of it has been built over, there is a major A road and the base is still in use.

@@nweston99I‘ve managed to create a map of how a preserved LMR would work today, follows pretty much the same route, the railway ran adjacent to the A3 rather than on it, so it doesn’t really affect it hugely other than a bridge or 2. The only major problems are that Bordon station has been re-developed into some new businesses and the fact the army is still at Longmoor.

mostly it follows walking trails and some dirt tracks the army built over the old trackbed

Gordon, that huge decapod. Wasn't it used in the 1966 movie "Runaway Railway?"

Yes, and "The Great St Trinian's Train Robbery", which was its starring rôle.

Gordons now resting in severn Valley Railways Arley Museum. Used to run on the line when i was kid. If i remember rightly the loco went through a set of buffers at Kidderminster station.

She is also the Gordon in Thomas the Tank Engine, Awdry based all his engines on real locos for his books.

This is the rather fuzzy Super-8 copy of this film. I know this as I bought a copy and was rather disappointed with it.
