It is amazing that a group of adults create a beautiful and deep world as a pure kid's heart , which surprised me, smiling and tearing. The adult's world was hard, whenever my heart become dirty or broken , I always back to this video and Yoshi's island reminds me that innocence should be the original appearance of our people's hearts. Thank you Mario team for bring me those precious and chaste treasure.

In my honest opinion, Nintendo really killed the moment of ending of this game, with Yoshi's New Island, for the 3DS. In fact, I still haven't played through that yet.

@Stephen Pearce I would've loved to see an animated series of this game. Tara Strong would voice Baby Mario (she voiced baby Dil & Poof) and Steve Blum would voice Bowzer (he voiced Wolverine). Yoshi doesn't have a voice he just makes noise so no one voiced him in the cartoon 😁

Omg, the music from this game brings back so many memories- im crying❤️😭 this is the only game that I played on Super Nintendo over and over and over and over in the late 90s and 2000s. My mom was a single mom and I was an only child. It was just me and her. She’d sit beside me and watch me play this for hours and hours. I’d let her have a turn sometimes. Im 29 now. I miss my childhood. So much. Life is so precious. 😔

The specifically nostalgic underground area music, the dungeon level and somewhat strange Mega-Man inspired baby Bowser fight music is all great but the main level music feels like it's from a cheesy 1920s sub-par movie scene. Also, the way too often overused sound effect of Kamek's wand is too much at times. Why is that the sound effect when Yoshi and Baby Mario are under snow and water? The OST and sound effects should have been expanded and modified slightly but overall the gameplay and concept was good and later blossomed into Yoshi's Story for N64.

This game was the swan song for the SNES. One of the last games produced before the rise of 3D graphics and the beginning of the console wars between Nintendo, Sony, and eventually Microsoft. It still remains one of the great achievements in gaming of not just it's generation, but in the franchise itself.

There's a LOT this game manages to explain by showing instead of telling, and that's why it's so fantastic: 1. Why Yoshiis afraid of castles (at least until Mario Maker) 2. Why Shy Guys and Snifits appear in Mario's dream in SMB2 3. Why Mario planned to fo on vacation to Dinosaur Land with Luigi and Peach before the events of Super Mario World (Yoshi's Island was the first world there) 4. How the rivalry between Mario and Bowser began This is basically the Skyward Sword of Mario: The game that shows us the genesis of Mario's universe

One of my most vivid childhood memories is sitting up on the carpet in my old bedroom when I was 7 years old one weekend afternoon, and finally getting to the end of 6-8, only to be greeted by an ominous sound track and a terrifying set of bowser eyes creeping slowly towards my screen. Probably one of those “chase the dragon” moments for me honestly, to this day I want a final boss appearance to affect me in the same way.

What surprised me most was when I found out that this game had the SuperFX chip in its cardridge. But instead of using it for polygon models, they used the extra processing power for the animated island in the main menu, 3D level-elements, more frames in animations and more parallax-backgrounds to create the games unique look. Imho the best plattformer on the SNES system, it had it all: superb style and graphics, unique levels and bosses, a lot of different gameplay elements (shooting reflections FTW), every world felt different, lots of puzzles and a wonderful nice fitting soundtrack.

I was surprised to see so many comments from people younger than me who also played this game. I was born in 1986 and am so “old” that my first time playing this game was when we rented it from a video store. My parents had to know if we liked it before they spent all that money. We grew up broke, and so the Super Nintendo was the only console that we bought new, before it was “obsolete”. The rest of the consoles we got were given away by anyone we knew whose kids abandoned the consoles when the new one was released. I guess, because of that, I just assumed every kid got rid of their old systems immediately and that I was the only one who was playing this old game. It’s good to see that I was wrong.
