i’m only 15 and love the zelda series so i decided to wanna take a trip back in time and play the old zelda games and this one blows me away.
@georgianamorgan89428 ай бұрын
That's gorgeous. I have a 15 yr old daughter and when I was 10 and Super Nintendo came out with Zelda, I ran home from school and played it every single day. No cheat codes. No internet. You had to 'figure it out'. And when I tell you it took 3 solid weeks to find the hammer you cannot imagine the frustration. And now, as I'm 43 years old and found this video, I am watching it patiently with a whiskey to find out what I missed... and at 28 mins in, this player is good. I got Xbox One for my kid with Kinect as soon as it came out, etc... but something about this game in particular; the storyline, the idiosyncrasies... its dynamic. And to hear a young soul like you describe it in such a way proves that the relevance and beauty of this adventure / story game truly transcends the ages.

@@CosmicGoku529 what about it? it's fun, great graphics, immersive (from a landscape standpoint), great music, just a little TOO open world... to the point I spend more time climbing and glitching stuff bc it's not immersive enough (from a story-telling standpoint). ALttP is considered the final Master Sword story bc when the adventure, Link rests the sword in the pedestal FOREVER, not until next time.
@CosmicGoku5292 жыл бұрын
@@JPWick And that rests forever was wrong because BotW takes place after that. So it's not the final Master Sword quest. As for story. None of the Zelda games really had a deep story to them. It was usually just Princess captured go save her as the chosen one. The story was basically the same in every game.
@JPWick2 жыл бұрын
@@CosmicGoku529 There is no exact "timeline." Nintendo made it up to quell the uber-nerds that need canon, in the same era where retcons have run amuck, spawning drivel like the MCU 🙄. Zelda is whatever you want it to be [according to its creator]. For me, bookending the series with SS and ALttP are natural fits according to its creator. Everything else is loosely sprinkled in there between the two, save for the non-MS adventures. Anything beyond that is re/interpretation of Miyamoto's storytelling by the new blood catering to the newer generations of gamers from the TikTok-era, which is largely fake-deep. Miyamoto is not at all actively involved in the IPs he's authored anymore. He's an elder statesman now, a figurehead. You think he cares about this stuff anymore? Zelda died a peaceful, gorgeous death with SS. Miyamoto/Nintendo promised Kondo a live symphony since LoZ. It took 25 years, but they delivered. Miyamoto and Kondo were Zelda [the brand]. They had virtually no involvement in BotW, which is clearly evident. Do you REALLY think BotW is a "real" Zelda installment? Of course it's not. Any Zelda post-SS is essentially a glorified, Disneyfication of "[Insert Ttile]: A Star Wars Story"... I'm not slamming BotW, it's different, enjoyable, it's technically Zelda, but not fundamentally. We're essentially talking about "organic" Zelda vs "GMO" Zelda at this point. I can pinpoint how all the intrigue and mystery with Zelda dissipated: social media.
@CosmicGoku5292 жыл бұрын
@@JPWick Like it or not there is a canon timeline that connects all these games. Skyward Sword starts the timeline and Breath of the Wild is at the end of the timeline for now. Just because the original creator wasn't involved much doesn't mean the new games are not part of the timeline. Aside from side games like Hyrule Warriors. All the games are *Linked* to each other.
@Cassanti Жыл бұрын
Nintendo had it down during the SNES generation but the jump from Zelda 1 & 2 to aLttP still blows me away. The first two are basically unplayable in the modern age without a guide but aLttP was considered one of the best in the series, at least until BotW came out. Absolute marvel of game design.

19:03 This is a a subtle hint that I don't think any of us picked up on the first time we played the game because we encountered it so early and then never thought about it again. But it's actually a critical clue to the weakness of one of the bosses you face in the Dark World later on in the game.

I just love this game! Link to the Past is the first appearance of what would later become a major brand of Zelda games: the existence of two parallel worlds between which the player can travel. The first, called World of Light (Light World), is the real Hyrule, where Link grew up with his uncle. The second is what was once the Sacred Realm, but it has become the Dark World, a corrupted version of Hyrule; water is an unpleasant dark color, grasses are dead, skulls have replaced rocks and vases, and trees have faces. People change shapes in the World of Darkness based on their nature; without an item to avoid (in this case, the Moon Pearl), Link turns into a pink rabbit. Each location in the World of Light corresponds to a similar location in the World of Darkness, usually with a similar physical structure, but an opposite nature (for example, a desert in the World of Light corresponds to a swamp in the World of Darkness, a quiet village in the Mundo da Luz corresponds to a city of thieves in ruins in the World of Darkness). Link can travel from the World of Darkness to the World of Light in almost any location in the outside world using the Magic Mirror, and can travel back to the World of Darkness again from the same location using a temporary portal left behind on the map, at the point where it reappears in the World of Light. Otherwise, Link must use locations with hidden portals across the World of Light to travel to the World of Darkness. Travel between worlds allows for the puzzle in A Link to the Past that explores the structural differences between the world of light and dark, how Link can travel to inaccessible areas in a world deforming from parallel, yet accessible locations in another world In my blog I give more details about this incredible Zelda: http: //wisegamer.net/zelda-super-nintendo-link-to-the-past/
