Another home run video! Thanks for all of your content. I hadn't drawn in almost 20 years and you are one of a few artists who got me going again. I wasn't even sure if I could draw anymore, but now the floodgates are open and I can't stop, and I am thrilled with the results. You got me thumbnailing and studying the masters I admired with your earlier videos, and you continue to inspire me. Thanks for everything :)

Wow that's the best endorsement ever. It was Philip Harris (one of the featured ink masters in this video) who lit my flame to start using dip pens! I bet soon, someone will say that you were the biggest influence in their art journey.

Great job ma'am. I'm an old retired carpenter trying to learn how to draw and paint and I have to admit it's a lot more challenging than I thought. Your videos and instructions are very helpful to me and I thank you for it.

So many aha moments in this video. Thank you 🙏. Also, love that the first row of grass is at eye level. It's like a little world or ecosystem down there. Really captures the imagination and humble appreciation of nature.

Thank you! This is really handy. And I want to ask usually how long does a finished artpiece/project take?
@longstrideillustration4 ай бұрын
As there are several stages to a final piece, it really depends. For this piece if we're talking just the ink application, it was about 2 hours. It would be longer using dip pens. On my website Tool page is an info graphic that breaks down the average time for the 5 stages: longstrideillustration.com/tools/

Great job, it's always a pleasure to observe you inking. Why do you cross one fine liner over another one in your hand while inking? Is it for stability? Thanks!
@longstrideillustration4 ай бұрын
Thank you! Oh, it's to save time. I was inking the shadow side with the 05 and rendering the inside with the 01. Rather than keep putting the pen down, taking the cap on/off, I just ink with two pens in one hand.

I love your channel so much! Thank you for your lessons. THis one was amazing, since I always have the hardest time drawing grass. I'd love to see a video on how you draw grass or floors in general, but from a distance. Like in a wide landscape scene. My mountains and trees are ok-ish, but when it comes to the grass or the floor in general... I pretty much ruin my drawing :(
@longstrideillustration4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I just started inking landscapes recently, so I'm also still learning how to render nature and urban scenes. One thing that really helped me was practicing compositions using linear perspective as the underlying structure. And exercise from Arthur L. Guptill's pen and ink book.
