Longtime Malta speedway may be nearing final finish line

The modified stock cars that have been racing around the dirt track at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta for six decades have finally reached the finish line.
The 50-acre property just off Route 9, where drivers have been priming their engines since the 1960s, is now seen as prime real estate by the Five Quarters Development Group. They want to convert the land into a multi-use mecca for retail and residential purposes.

oh and dont forget warehouses, we dont have enough of those, and we would not want the rich and their homeowners association to be desturbed, and third places or places to grow food or have fun, oh noo no no thats only for the rich, or high nose ivy league school grads that know whats best for you since they think we arn't smart enough to decide for ourselves and we are useful idiots to them to buy their junk imported fad goods that keep their bills paid. yea I got an ax to grind, we lost 2 tracks in indiana already this year, and we have had several hundred acres of land devolped that was farm land, sometimes I want to go out in the contry to ride my bike away from people, and animals need a place to call home as well as places to grow food to feed our nation and area, and indiana is supposed to be the racing capital of the world, yea, I mean sure they built an inner track for quarter midgets and all kinds of dirt carts at circle city, and they brought life back into terre haute and have done a fantastic job getting shows at salem speedway, but we lost gas city it will probably never reopen, south bend closed and the new owner has no intention of running a race track, and montpelier never opened this year I am sure it will eventually hold racing again its the oldest track in indiana built as a horse track in 1903 but the new promoter and owner I guess are at an impass we are likely with all the development going on up in the north we might never see another race track for cars ever built up here again, they dont want the noise, they dont like the dust in the air

Look at what happened in Reading, Pa. When they ripped down the Fairgrounds to build a mall, the mall never brought in the revenue that the race track did, people came from all over the country to go to the fair and the race track, yes this keeps happening in the north there will soon be no more race tracks 😢

Well the owner of the track will be 82 come 2025 and selling it off for millions is probably the best thing for the owner

Malta is very overdeveloped. This is another nail in the coffin for the rural charm that once existed in Malta. Also, the low income housing will bring in more low lifes. Vote out the town planners...

Race tracks that have been around 60 years help the economy or it wouldnt have lasted 60 years genius. a 60 year tradition being ruined for a shopping mall that wont last 10 years. Only way the worthless government should be able to do this is by building another racetrack to replace the one they are senslessly detroying THEN build hte worthless shopping mall

So are so far left it's not even funny, the race track brings in more revenue than a shopping plaza that people can't afford to buy from. That attracts the locals and the race track brings in people from all over the country.
