My 3 year old twins are sleep trained to this song and a few other of Lonnie's masterpieces (City of Lights, Summer Afternoon, Night Flower, Mystical Dreamer and Divine Light). This is their current favorite - they are knocked out within 5 minutes ❤️

You go, Ashley! It was my official, "Wind Down" song for Studying For High School Exams.Homework in the late 1970s when it first came out! Dr. Lonnie Smith did so much Music, and I remember reading in an interview in a Jazz Magazine many years ago, that he himself knew that this was such a popular song that was well loved by many fans, even those who have never heard his earlier Jazz recordings! And those recording truly showed what an artist Lonnie Smith was!

I did not think it was possible to improve on perfection; but, Lonnie Liston Smith has done it ! I love his original Quiet Moments(Circa 1978) & this update of Quiet Moments done 20yrs later is exquisite. The perfect song for a lazy sunny autumn day. We need more songs like this to brighten our days.

This reminds me of the summer of 1998. I was too young to be riding around at night playing this in the car when everybody else my age was playing DMX.

This is one of my favorite versions of this song (the original is good too). I remember hearing this on the radio back in 1998 when I was in middle school. It’s very surreal and other worldly, but at the same very peaceful and relaxing. I had been looking for it for awhile, and hadn’t been able to find this album on most streaming apps. It needs to be re-released.

Thank you very much Georgiegirl. I had never heard Lonnie before . I went to do a serach on soul-jazz genre and Lonnie was listed as one of the best. I listened today for the first time and love his groove.. Very mellow and spiritual. He has the OM symbol at the top before Transformation, which is a divine symbol. In His Bhagavad-gita Lord Krishna says "Of the Vedic mantras, I am the syllable OM" Lonnie is involkng the presence of God in this piece. "Quiet Moments" begins with a Gmi7, then goes to a Gma7, then Cma7 Cmi 7th. Anything else after that ? Can anyone help me with the chords / tabs on this beautiful piece please, for guitar, or do I have it all? I know I am missing a few chords. I want to imbibe this piece and many others. WHo else is in the same groove as Lonnie?

Thank you for posting this. Are there any musicians that can check my chord progression? On guitar, this is the chord progression as I figured it out. When it comes to the end of each progression, does it end on a D# ma 7? Here is what I have understood : Gma7 Gmi7 Gma7 Gmi7 Cma7 Cmi7 F9 Gma7 and then the last chord ends on the D# ma 7th before it starts another progression. If you hear any other chords I'm missing please let me know. Thanks very much

@TheQuantum092 жыл бұрын
Yeah. As far as the end of the progression, I'm hearing D# Maj 7 or Eb Maj 7 (if you're looking at it enharmonically.)
