Seeing this Look at Life clip makes me feel old. It starts by showing a now retired Viscount that belonged to British Air Ferries. I worked in the maintenance hangar of BAF for 12 years and that now seems a long time ago. It's a pity the film makers didn't put the correct sound to the Viscount's engine start up. What you heard was a piston engine and not the unmistakable sound of a Rolls Royce Dart. That's my. "Anorak " fact of the day for you.

ISuperb footage, I love those BEA 4 windscreen coaches, AEC Regals? Have flown on Viscounts, Comets and Super VC 10s, and the footage of London Airport brings back memories. As a boy I had already flown on several 707s and DC 8s then had my first flight on a Super VC 10. It was like going from a farm wagon to a Bentley. Will get this DVD!

It is most probably because the system is as old as the film. Heathrow is one big muddle. Patched to gather over time.
