Radial ply tyres, ABS, crumple zones, anti-burst door latches, seat belts, safety glass - all these things were available but considered “too costly” - until manufacturers had their arms twisted.

It's quite remarkable how far we as a society have come in terms of vehicle safety since this was made. I'm 58 now & remember rolling around in the back seat as a child due to the lack of seat belts. I also remember how many died of horrific chest injuries or facial trauma. Yes, we've come a long way but at what cost? People still die & the cars were so much cooler back then... It really is hard to choose!
