Look At Me by Anita Brookner (Book Review)

Welcome to my new book review, Look at Me by Anita Brookner.
Oh no, I can't read another Anita Brookner novel because they pain me in the heart for the female character each time.
I'm kidding. Of course, I'll read Anita Brookner again!
In this latest novel we are introduced to Frances Hinton who is at pains to get with the 'in crowd' of beautiful people in the hope that she would be lifted by the dull and routine life of hers. There's so much I haven't said in this review about what happens to her and the choices she makes in the end because she comes to terms to understand that choices mean sacrifices.
A must read - and a sad book at times (especially when she has a realisation).

I’m currently reading The Next Big Thing by Brookner and liking that too. Her writing requires slow reading to put those mental pictures in your head into clear focus and understand how sad the situation or character happens to be.
