Hey Monkeyfamily!
This week I take a look at some Remco Karate Kid figures from 1986!
This was a line I was very fond of and I'm very happy that they are represented in my collection. Maybe one day I will get a Johnny figure, but I'm not too fussed about getting Chosen or Sato.

Hey Monkeyfamily! What do you think of the Remco Karate Kid line? Did you have any as a child? I think it's a really fun line with some great accessories and playsets (even though I only have a few figures). If you enjoy my content please do consider sharing the channel with other collectors! Thank you for watching; if you liked this video then perhaps you would like this one too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6nbmIWYZat9ia8si=xoi5bF5YOuTEq_eD Have a great week everbody! 👍🐵

In all my travels to the local (and sometimes long distanced) toy stores, I have never seen any of the Karate Kid action figures😲 In their place we were graced with the Chuck Norris cartoon action figures. Yay. However, these figures look like they would be a good addition to any action figures collection and I certainly would have picked them up (I especially like how the Mr. Miyagi figure looks a lot like Pat Morita!). Thank you for sharing these with us this week Monkeyboy, and if you do track down more, at least I myself will be happy to view those as well! As always have yourself a splendid week👍🐒

@alexjames7670 Thanks for the comment, Alex! Yes the Karate Kid figures were/are excellent. Lots of play value and great accessories too. I might get some more at some point down the line but I'm very happy to have these three in my collection. They are not that easy to come by these days, so perhaps the production runs were smaller. I've never seen any at my local toy fair but I still have hope of finding some in the wild. I'm not familiar with the Chuck Norris kine, but here in the UK it didn't seem to be so popular. Thank you for watching, sir. I appreciate your support and interest in the channels and I'm pleased you find the content entertaining and interesting! Have a tremendous week! 👍🐵

@@MonkeyboysToys I'm glad you'll keep an eye out for further Karate Kid figures! The Chuck Norris line wasn't popular in any country that I'm aware of so no loss there. If I see that Mr. Miyagi figure and I have some cash I am going to purchase it if only for the fact that I liked Pat Morita. Anyway have yourself an incredibly good week my friend! 👍🐒

@alexjames7670 Thanks man, you too! Yeah I must say the face sculpts in the KK line are really very good. It's such a pity that the line wasn't as successful as it might've been, because the figures are great. I really don't know why it didn't quite hit at the time. By 1986 the MOTU line was starting to lose its shine, and the KK figures offered greater play value with their multiple action features and functional accessories. Thanks for watching, dude! 👍🐵

@@MonkeyboysToys I agree. Maybe if the kids caught on to it, it not only would have lasted longer (for a while at least), but they might have conceivably followed up the first two waves with figures from Karate Kid 2 like Chozen. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your week Monkeyboy!👍🐒

Dear quizzical squirrel! Didn't have them back in the 80ies, but these Remco Karate Kid figures looks great. They have this funny cartoonish sculpting. Pure 80ies. These lines can be nice to collect because they usually don't have to many items and are less pricey than Vintage Star Wars. Have a great week Sir!

@@sva3897 Yeah this is a great line, and the accessories were cool because they had their own action play feature (although I don't have those unfortunately). Really pleased to have these figures and I hope to get a couple more at some point. Thanks for watching, Seth! 👍🐵

Nice figures (38 years old 😂)! They have a very similar body shape to the Galoob A-Team figures. I have a couple of these, Daniel but sadly his arm doesn't work anymore and a different version of Kreese, who at last time I looked, still works fine. Nice display case idea!

@AllThings80s haha it does not surprise me but you can be forgiven for not having seen it (the same cannot be said for Ghostbusters 😅). The KK figures were really very good indeed. I think they were at a higher price point than MOTU, but this is to be expected given the smaller production runs and higher cost of producing figures with 3 separate action feature mechanisms for the figures. They hold up well after nearly 40 years and they display very nicely. The nostalgia level is very high for me and although I only have 3 of the figures it is one of my favourite toylines to this day. Thanks for watching, sir. Have a great week man! 👍🐵

How easy are their break-apart accessories to buy? They always fascinated me as a child. You could karate chop a plank of wood, or kick through a wall with the figures. That was amazing to little young '80s me.

@GreyHulk2156 The accessories are not impossible to find, but I wouldn't say very easy either. They are also usually very expensive. Daniel's ice block and Kreese's chair were my favourite. The jackets are very difficult to find. They are like rocking horse shit. Thanks for watching dude! 👍🐵

@VintageToyRush Thanks Dave! Yes it was you who sparked my interest in these figures again. I got the Daniel and Miyagi some time ago but I've been after a purple-trousered Kreese for the longest time. I couldn't take it any more and had to get a bare-chested one. I don't think I will collect the whole line with the variants but I hope to get a Johnny with the green jacket at some point as he looks great. If you do have a spare Kreese garment I'd be happy to purchase it from you, but don't go to a lot of trouble on my behalf! Thank you for watching, kind sir! Have a tremendous week Dave! 👍🐵

I loved these as a kid. Me and my brother had a few of them and we must have worn out the mechanisms pretty quick because we never stopped playing with them! We never had a Kreese, but we did have Chozen and Sato, I even got the modern version of Chozen as he was one of my favourite characters. They have decent likenesses to the actors for the time they were made. Have you seen Cobra Kai? It's one of my favourite series of recent years and I think the final season comes out this year. A great nostalgia trip. Have a good week, mate. Strike first, strike hard, no mercy! Cobra kai never dies!

@stephengray8374 Yeah this toyline is brilliant. So much play value in the figures, playsets and even the accessories. I didn't have any as a kid but my best friend had them all and we played with them all the time. Yup, I've seen Cobra Kai and I did enjoy it. The fact that they got all the cast back is great. Unfortunately I don't have access to Netflix anymore so I won't be able to see the final season. Have a good week, Stephen-san!🙏

@MonkeyboysToys
@MonkeyboysToys 2 ай бұрын
@brushstroke3733 Yeah they were available in the US to begin with, then when the line came to the UK they were distributed by Tonka toys. The KK movie was a big hit in the UK and the sequels did quite well too. The toyline was quite popular here, although the retail price was a little higher than a standard MOTU figure. I can't think of another figure line that had 3 action features in each figure, and they offer very high play value. The figures hold their value very well and it is quite an expensive line to collect. I only have three figures but I hope to get a few more because it really is a brilliant line. Thanks for watching, sir; have a great week dude! 👍🐵

@MonkeyboysToys 2 ай бұрын
@GreyHulk2156 Yeah I reckon lots were just thrown away or lost. It's a shame because they were some of the best accessories of any toyline of their time. Usually figures just had weapons, but the KK accessories actually had functional play value.

I used to think he was called Daniel Son or Daniel Sun, but I think he was called Daniel San(Sawn). Great collection! I remember there was a Saturday morning cartoon which lasted for one season, 1989-1990. Not too exciting of a cartoon since it involved Daniel, Mr. Migagi and a pretty asian girl traveling around the world for a stolen magical shrine that belonged to the girl. The shrine always ended up in someone else's hands causing bad luck to those who were around the person who possessed it.
