Hello! Unfortunately I have no idea when exactly it was written. The fellow who wrote the words, H.G. Jackson, was born in 1838 and died in 1914 while the fellow who wrote the music, James M. Black, was born in 1856 and died in 1938. So, you have those time frames to fit in when the words and music were written. :-)
