A very wide range of expressions possible and you seemed to explore them all! An enchanting interpretation. Also appreciate you taking the time to deconstruct exactly what you're playing. Really helps to better understand the possibilities as well - thank you.

I hear elements of Vince Guaraldi in this too. Whether it's your style, or Vince taking this feel from Jobim is interesting to me.

Good listening! There may be a touch of Guaraldi in my playing, but it's more likely because he was heavily influenced by bossa nova including Jobim's music.

WOW! Amazing, yet again. It's been so fun following this series, thank you for sharing! If it's not too much troubke, could you please provide some insight as to what's happening harmonically 8:35:-8:47. I am mystified by your playing, understanding, and explanation of every tune!

In that section, I played shell voicings with my LH (root and either 3rd or 7th), and my RH played the melody along with a few chord tunes underneath.

Man, that was a sweet lyrical melodic impro. Had a lot of rolling, lush landscape to it. I wonder if Jobim saw his name as a sort of Brazilianised version of Chopin - they are so close. Talking of wordplay, on your video of Airegin (many, many years ago), you wondered about the name. I had heard it was Nigeria backwards. But because I don't know why, it's only half an explanation. PS Really looking forward to Lullaby of Birdland. It used to be the party piece of an old friend of mine - he would set his electric piano to Celeste for it (but that's not a request - I prefer the full piano sound).

Thanks, and that's interesting about Jobim/Chopin. Yes, Airegin in Nigeria backwards. Some jazz musicians used African places in their song titles, such as Sonny Rollins with Airegin and Dizzy Gillespie with A Night In Tunisia.
