The lyrics are ostensibly about using science to try and search for God, but I believe there is a second meaning if you listen to just the chorus and the music and take the song within the wider context of an album about the fall of empires - it sounds quite militaristic, like air defense looking for bombers above a city, especially with the wailing guitar in the background sounding like an air raid siren. So, it might be about searching a higher power up above, but also anticipating that it might be hostile.

Have you ever tried Stryper? They began in the 80's and are still putting out great music. They sound better than ever. "Transgressor", "Do Unto Others", "No More Hell To Pay" are great tracks.
