I decided as a young girl that I loved thread old fashioned crocheted doilies and vowed to learn /teach myself how.This was around 1974,I was 14 and had a Summer job and a little money... ,and a new Kenmore sewing machine for Christmas that year...I was in heaven teaching myself to sew,and spendy all my time and money at the fabric store in walking distance of my house ...I found instruction in books from there and my library at school and local one and started to teach myself and learn the terminology .No internet or KZbin back then ! Eventually I persevered and was self taught.I was fortunate to later have a wonderful mother in law who taught me the joys of Granny squares and yarn/blanket crochet.Now at 62 ,I am still crazy about doing it in all forms! I can't knit because my tension habit is pretty tight ,and it's just how I do,not good for knitting and I don't enjoy the variation that crochet patterns have over the repitition of knit stitches.

I believe from watching the video, that you wrap your needle for a double stitch then pull it through all loops on the needle instead of two at a time. Hope that made sense.

I am a bit confused.... You are doing trebles (UK speak in crochet) yet annotate as dc which to us is a double crochet ie stitch is on needle pull thru a new stitch of yarn from yarn ball, wind yarn round needle... Looks like 3 stitches - that last loop is pulled through the the two loops. It's a short dense stitch. I love the granny square..... Fantastic....
