The problem with the wildlife hedge is all the weed roots will spread, as you can see with the area you are trying to clear. Might I suggest you buy a decent digging fork and dig all the roots out of that area, if you don't get them out then your greenhouse will be full of weeds/brambles/bind weed, its much better spending the time getting rid of them all before putting up the greenhouse, or you will forever trying to remove them from under the greenhouse.

Good morning Emma. Watching you from Canada, where it is snowing right now. Wishing I could get in my gardens. Maybe around April I’ll be able to start. In the meantime, I’m gardening vicariously through you. Hoping 2025 is a great gardening year for everyone. xox 🇨🇦

Hi emma I personally would level of the ground where your greenhouse is going put a cover sheet over then get some slabs or gravel to use as a base for the greenhouse it would help keep that bind weed under control hope you have a successful new year growing

I keep all my tulips in planters, means I can move them anywhere when there flower and in autumn/winter I just move the planters somewhere out of the elements and also I would never remember where they were if in the ground so would probably accidently dig them up or something. Hope you have success with yours this year.

That's exactly what I do in my home garden. And I'm creating dedicated flower beds for them now so I don't forget where they are and dig them up like I have done in the past! xx

Hi Emma, have you thought about buying/ borrowing a pick axe? It doesn't have to be a huge one, just something with a bit of weight. It would help to make short work of your greenhouse area. I love how youve positioned your wildlife area next to Einstein's feeding station. When he's eaten his mealworms, he can eat the insects under the tripod. 😂😂😂

I suppose that if the teepee wildlife refuge doesn't work, you can always set it alight and put your billycan on it. 😀

Oh Emma I feel your pain, clearing that patch. I have just taken on the plot next to my allotment and it's exactly the same. Just a solid mat of couch grass and bramble roots. Nightmare. But like you, I'm just doing a bit every visit. It's slow going but hopefully by spring, I'll have made an improvement. It'll all be worth it when your lovely new greenhouse is up and running, and my new plot is cleared and ready to go. We can do it.. Girl power ha ha

Hiya Emma you really don't need a greenhouse till March and weather should start getting better from march onwards so if you maybe planned to get greenhouse in for End of February I really wouldn't do any sooner would really be to much of a risk so that would give you a good 7 to 8 weeks all the best for 2025 keep up the great work and videos Craig oh and sorry to say but I say later than sooner better for greenhouse I know you will be wanting in up but honestly hold off long as you can and your going to need the time to weed that corner as much as possible every bit you get out is 1 less weed to come back also a good spade and fork really does help when digging cheap tools go blunt fast bend and are just not up for the job get a good Spade and fork see if any sales are on and treat yourself you will see the difference

Suet pellets for Einstein? Mealworms are basically air 😂 I love the teepee, needs more stuff in it though to compact it as it's just going to blow away, wrapping with twine like you suggested is a great idea 💡

I think there’s no harm in having a wild barrier, it’s only like a farmers hedge boundary. I’m sure it’s a wildlife haven in its own right.

Happy New Year Emma and good luck with the tulips, I'm sure they'll be fine. I've left tulips in the ground for nearly 10 years now and they come up great every year. I don't dig them up as I can't really remember were exactly I've planted them once the green has died back. As for digging up big roots etc I like using the fork. There's less resistance and roots etc come up easier somehow, for me at least. Can't remember the last time I've used my spade. 😊😊🌷🌷

If you can get yourself a trenching shovel that will really help dug those vine weeds and whatever vine you have there between your neighbour.its a really good shovel.its long and slender but sharp.
@Cara_198217 күн бұрын
Could you not just put down a thick sheet of weed suppressant and leave the weeds etc to die away and just put the greenhouse on top? And then for the flooring of the greenhouse once it’s in you could use gravel or something?

Please don’t wrap any twine or netting around think of animals such as hedgehogs n the likes they may get tangled up in it and I know that’s the last thing you want to do. If you want to keep the leaves and smaller things in place peg them in with bent over twigs lm sure you could find something that would suffice you are ingenious. sorry to be a bit preachy but just saying not getting on at you.
