Hi Kelly. Love it. I ran to dollar tree to grab a surf board and I made a fairy door out of it!! The size and shape seemed perfect to me. I will set it at the base of a huge tree in my yeard. Turned out pretty cute. I bet you could do a stunning one!!

Cute idea. I loved that you painted the letters. So often I can’t find the right color I need. I looked at some letters like yours that I had purchased at Dollar Tree and noticed that you can pull the “two-sided” card apart and use that part as a stencil.

SaltLifeGypsy68 I dry my DIY’s in the oven I’d say 90% of the time cause I don’t have time to wait for them to dry on their own! I set the temp as low as it can go which is 135 on my over only about 20 degrees over the summer temperature where I live, lol 😂 I’ve never had a problem

I made these, and they are really cute. I am using them as a centerpiece to my summer table setting. Here is what I have encountered. I did not clean the platters with alcohol prior to spraying and should have as the paint slid around. It just gave the 'board' a more realistic look because I had to spray a few times over other spray. Spray paint for plastic would have been better. The letters. My dollar tree had them in really cool colors, however they don't really stick well, so I should have placed (and will) a spot of glue behind them. The sand. You need to put lots and lots of sand on those globs of glue because the glue slides around. It will take at least a day or two to really dry. However it was in the high 90s, so it dried faster. I would also recommend if you use them as a table setting to spray some type of clear lacquer over the sand. I couldn't find mine, so I used hair spray., Really it worked. Since I have all glass front doors, I couldn't hang them but would look really cute on your door. Overall except for the spray paint, which is getting obscenely expensive this was an inexpensive and really adorable project. Thank you.

Kelly, take one of these surfboard platters and paint it white. Take 2 of the flat wooden spatulas, leave them wood color. On the edge, of the patter, longways, hot glue a small strip of nautical rope and slide a spatula through the ropes handle towards the point and hot glue each spatula onto the platter for stability. Coil the rest of your nautical rope and hold together with a small piece of twine. Glue the rope to the point of the platter. Glue tower blocks across middle of platter for a “seat”. (In the bottom,wide part of the platter, use small letters to say “U.S.S. *kid name * and make one with each of their names for their beachy bathroom! How stinking adorable is that?! I’m positive you can come up with a great color scheme for these dollar tree platter boats! $4ish each! Budget friendly! I’m doing a beach theme in my downstairs half bath!

Tiffany Grey if you’re that talented, that’s great! But, if you’re like me, the hibiscus flowers would look like an abstract mess. You could purchase some Hawaiian print fabric, or even decorative paper, cut the flowers out and use Mod Podge to adhere them.
