I love this! I think this is a pretty neutral decor piece that would fit in with different decor themes. I don’t like coffee but how cute would that be with a coffee themed wall sticker and coffee beans inside instead of rocks?!? Or a beach themed background with seashells and beach glass? Sand would be cute but you’d really have to make sure it has a tight seal. Lol! This piece can be made to fit any decor. Ooohhh! A unicorn theme for Allie with rainbows and sparkles! Apparently my brain is on 🔥 at 2am. 🤣😂🤣

I think it would also look good with a mirror background, or monogram or initial decal (or dreamy artistic portrait without the decal -outdoor wedding, romantic couple, soft focus candid of a child or pet, or any woodsy landscape). Also a Great inexpensive way to create a shadow box to display some favorite mementoes. Imagine a Beach photo with seashells instead of river rocks... extra credit if you can include a natural looking base layer of sand under the shells. So many possibilities. Such a versatile project I just have to subscribe 😃.

J. Gibbs Interesting idea. If you went that way, I would buy some clear full sheet labels at Staples and print your own decal. Maybe the couple's name and wedding date. Paint the frame in their wedding colors, or see if you can get rocks in those colors. It wouldn't be a dollar store gift anymore, but an interesting idea.

I live on the north shore of Lake Ontario and there are beaches of this type of rounded edges. You could also find them in various river beds around the country. I'd boil them first to make sure there is no hitch-hikers. Btw not connected to this project but drift wood may be had along shores too. Peace and Love to all.

I have read that it’s not a good idea to boil rocks. Apparently they can contain moisture that may explode under the right conditions. Might be safer to pour boiling water over the rocks to sterilize.
